    Evanston kickball tourney June 2

    EVANSTON – The Evanston Civic Association kickball tourney will kick off at 9 a.m. June 2. Teams of eight to 10 people of all ages are welcome.

    Cost is $150 per team and teams along with names must be submitted by today. A free T-shirt will be given to everyone who plays.

    Concessions will be available and all proceeds will go to support the civic association.

    Bookmobile parked until June 6

    PERRY COUNTY – In preparation for a new bookmobile scheduled to arrive at the end of the month, the Perry County Library bookmobile will not make its usual stops from Tuesday to June 6.

  • Reunions, May 24

    Cook-York
    LEOPOLD – The Cook-York family reunion will be held June 10 at St. Augustine’s parish hall in Leopold.
    Dinner will be held at noon and each family is asked to take a covered dish. There will be an auction, so take treasured items for the event. Dinnerware will be furnished.
    Family and friends are invited to attend.

  • River Sweep set for June 16 along Ohio

    PERRY COUNTY – It’s time for the annual cleaning of the Ohio River and your help is needed. Volunteers are needed for River Sweep 2012 scheduled for June 16, along the shoreline of the Ohio River and its many tributaries.
    River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. More than 3,000 miles of shoreline will be combed for trash and debris. This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.

  • Lincoln Boyhood announces 50th anniversary events

    LINCOLN CITY – This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial. In honor of this historic event, the National Park Service has a full calendar of celebratory events.

  • PCMH to host CPR class Wednesday

    TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer a Heartsaver CPR with AED class from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday.
    The American Heart Association class teaches the adult, child and pediatric CPR and choking rescue skills and also the use of an AED. This class is recommended for teachers, student teachers, security guards, day care employees and others who have a duty to respond because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. There will be a skills test, no written exam.

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton High School Class of 1947 will hold its 65th reunion at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Patio Steakhouse.
