    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1972 is planning its 40-year reunion. Addresses are needed for the following classmates: Kay LaGrange, Debbie Davis, Ronnie Dyer, Patty Miller and Matt Brakora.

  • Oakwood kicks off annual food drive

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus, a Trilogy Health Services Community and a Tell City provider of senior health and living services, has officially kicked off their annual company-wide “Independence from Hunger” food drive.
    The campus’ business office will collect nonperishable food items and monetary donations from now until July 3. All proceeds will benefit Perry County Food Coalition.

  • Contestants sought for Schweizer Fest Pageant

    TELL CITY – A follow-up meeting for this year’s Schweizer Fest pageant will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Evangelical United Church of Christ.
    Applications for contestants can be picked up at Cinderella’s, 922 Main Street in Tell City.
    Age groups are as follows: Princess, 9 to 11 year olds; Junior Miss, 12 to 15 years old; Teen, 16 to 19 year olds and Miss, 20 to 22 years old. The pageant is open to all Perry and Spencer county, and Hancock County, Ky., girls.

  • Fourth of July Picnic June 29 through July 1

    TELL CITY – Moose Lodge 1424 in Tell City will again sponsor its annual Fourth of July Picnic in Zoercher–Bettinger Park on Tell City’s north side. This year’s dates are June 29 through July 1.
    Any nonprofit organization interested in reserving space in the park for fundraising activities can call Bill Coyle at 547-7867 or 547-6885. Booth rental is $50 for all three days.

    Schmidt – Dauby
    PERRY COUNTY – The descendants of John E. Schmidt and Emily Dauby Schmidt are invited to a family reunion at noon Saturday at the Alcoa Clubhouse near Newburgh.
    Those attending are asked to take food, utensils and drinks.

    Legion selling fiddler dinners Friday
    TELL CITY – American Legion 213 will sell fiddler dinners from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the post home.
    Cost is $6.95.

  • Rome VFD poker run set for Saturday

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will host a poker run June 16. The event will start at Braunie’s Bar in Tell City with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. All bikes are to be out by 11 a.m. and in by 5 p.m. Entry fee is $15 per person or $25 per couple and includes a meal. Motorcycles, cars and pickup trucks are welcome.
    There will be door prizes and half-pot drawings.
    For more information, call Jerry Seifert at 836-2611, Barry Whitehead at 549-5503 or Kirk Kellems at 619-1201. In the event of bad weather, the event will be postponed until June 23.
