  • Benefit auction for Tyler Cundiff Jan. 7

    TELL CITY – A benefit for Perry Central student Tyler Cundiff will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 7.
    Cundiff was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is currently in a hospital in Indianapolis. Proceeds from the auction will go to helping his family care for him.
    Anyone with new or used items for the auction can drop them off at Indiana Realty and Auction Co., 331 Main St., Tell City.

  • PCMH Freshstart program to start in January

    TELL CITY – The Perry County memorial Hospital will offer free quit-smoking classes as a part of the Freshstart Smoking Cessation Program in January.
    Classes will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon or 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the hospital.
    Freshstart, an American Cancer Society program, provides participants with effective tools to use while they work to stop smoking.

  • Concert at EUCC Jan. 5 to feature Newman Singers

    TELL CITY – A free concert featuring the Newman Singers will be held at Evangelical United Church of Christ, 802 10th Street in Tell City, at 7 p.m. Jan. 5.
    The Newman Singers, a liturgical and concert group from the Newman Catholic Student Center in Iowa City, Iowa, have toured the country for the past 15 years, building a reputation for leadership in the contemporary liturgical and inspirational music. In their own words, their mission is to spread the gospel of Christ in a manner musically and spiritually uplifting.

  • Catholic Charities gives coats to those in need

    PERRY COUNTY – Catholic Charities is currently conducting its annual winter coat and blanket give-away.
    If you or someone you know needs a winter coat, organizers ask they come to Catholic Charities for assistance.
    Due to the generosity of local residents, the group has a very good supply of coats for all ages - small children through adults. There are also several blankets to choose from.
    There is no charge for these items for anyone who needs a winter coat or blanket. Contact Catholic Charities at 547-0903 for more information.

  • Memorial Hospital to sponsor women’s event

    JASPER – A morning devoted to women’s health is planned for Jan. 14 at the Huntingburg Event Center. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s “Women of the Heartland” will feature cardiologist Dr. Mary Walsh of Indianapolis, who is a nationally recognized expert on women and heart disease.
    Her keynote speech will be “Heart Disease in Women: Am I at Risk?”

  • Benefit for Tyler Cundiff Dec. 17

    HUNTINGBURG – A celebration-of-life cancer benefit will be held from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 17 at Gaslight Pizza and Grill in Huntingburg for Tyler Cundiff.
    Cundiff was diagnosed with leukemia in November. In an effort to ease the financial burdens and daily needs, his family and friends will host the benefit in his honor. The public is encouraged and invited to attend.
    Cover charge is $7 per person. Those under the age of 21 will be allowed into the benefit until 10 p.m.
    Live music will be provided by Silly Rules, Seahorse Bandits and more.
