  • Memorial service at Oakwood

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus and Vista Care Hospice will hold a memorial service at 3 p.m. Thursday.
    The service will be in remembrance of the friends and loved ones they have lost this past year.
    Any family members and friends are invited to attend.

  • Dog walk set for Thursday in Tell City

    TELL CITY – The newly formed Humane Society of Perry County Youth Group will host a dog walk Thursday.
    Registration will be at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo in City Hall Park in Tell City. The walk will begin at 7 p.m. and head to the river walkway at Sunset Park.
    Water will be provided for pets. Owners are asked to take their own animal waste disposal bags.

  • Annual astronomy star party at Patoka Lake Saturday

    BIRDSEYE – Enjoy a special presentation by members of the Louisville AND Evansville Astronomical Societies and the Stonebelt Stargazers of Bedford as they share their knowledge of the sky above from 6 to 10 p.m. or later Saturday at the Patoka Lake Beach.
    There will be kid’s activities from 6 to 8 p.m., along with solar observing. Two special astronomy programs will be held at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. under the tent on the beach.
    From 8 p.m. on there will be telescopes set up for observations of Saturn and Mars as darkness falls.

  • PCMH to offer CPR classes

    TELL CITY – Family and Friends CPR classes will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday and July 19.
    This program is designed for the lay person, 10 years and older, to learn CPR and choking-rescue skills. Children 10 and 11 years old may participate in the class with an older sibling or adult. No testing or performance evaluation required. Fee is $10 for the two hour class.

  • Rome to host flea market Saturday

    ROME – The Rome Community Center will begin to host flea markets through summer and fall months this year. The first market will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
    Everyone is welcome and vendors may include new and used items, crafters, antiques, artists and produce. No food vendors will be accepted. Space is available for $10.
    Concessions will be available. Proceeds from the markets will benefit the Rome Community Center, which is the old Perry County Courthouse.

  • PCMH Auxiliary Gently Used sale Wednesday

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a “Gently Used” sale featuring books, jewelry and handbags.
    The sale will kick off at 7 a.m. Wednesday and end at 4 p.m. Paperback books will be 50 cents each and hardbacks will be $1. Jewelry and handbags will be individually priced.

  • Annual Lincoln Trail quilt show Aug. 10-11

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Trail Quilt Guild will host its fourth annual quilt show Aug. 10 and 11 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

    The public may visit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 11.
    Raffle tickets are available for a splitting image pattern quilt, quilted by the Women of the Lutheran Church. The winner of the raffle will be drawn after the quilt show Aug. 11.
