  • Knights collecting donations for Tootsie Roll drive May 11, 12

    TELL CITY – Tell City Knights of Columbus Council 1172 will accept donations for its Tootsie Roll drive for the mentally challenged citizens of Perry County May 11 and 12.
    Councilman Bob Hackle and Terry Schaefer are co-chairing the event and encourage the public to donate at one of four locations: Tell City Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Noble’s IGA and Old National Bank’s branch on Indiana 66.
    All money raised stays in Perry County.

  • Wittmann to appear at library May 12

    TELL CITY – Gary Wittmann, storyteller, author and composer, will present “Creating the Circle of the Stories, Poetry and Songs” at 1 p.m. May 12 at the Perry County Public Library – Tell City branch to celebrate children’s book week.

    Wittmann grew up listening to generations of storytellers and has continued the tradition. Along with his brother, he composes songs and poetry. His presentations include puppets, musical instruments and tales with both multicultural folktales as well as original stories about the circle of life.

  • SIRS to host open house, ribbon cutting today

    TELL CITY – An open house and ribbon cutting will be held for Southern Indiana Resource Solutions today. The open house will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and the ribbon cutting will be held at 3 p.m.
    SIRS is located at 1012 31st Street in Tell City.
    The public is invited to stop by for a tour of the changes to the building, learn about SIRS’ new day service program and community services and view the United Way of Perry County and WIC offices.

    TELL CITY – Mu Gamma chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Patio to celebrate Founders Day.
    The special events committee will host the event.

  • Relay Rally Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – D.A.T. Crew’s will host a Relay Rally with Damaged Goods from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Lain residence, 3916 Sheba Road, Cannelton.
    Admission will be $5 per person, with all proceeds going to Perry County Relay for Life.

  • Spencer County Relay for Life events

    SPENCER COUNTY – Several Relay for Life teams in Spencer County are planning upcoming fundraisers.
    Team H-A-P-P-Y will have a Family Road Rally at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Parish Center in Fulda. Entrants will visit several areas of interest in the area. There will be a spaghetti supper after at the Parish Center in Fulda. A donation of $15 is asked for anyone 13 years and older attending both the rally and supper. Children 12 and under is can be admitted for $5. Cost of the meal only is $8.

  • Comedy benefit for Cundiff Saturday

    TELL CITY – A comedy benefit will be held to raise funds for Tyler Cundiff Saturday, featuring comedian Danny Browning and opening act Gavin Eddings.
    The event will be held at the American Legion hall in Tell City, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m.
    Admission is $10 and you must be at least 18 years old to attend. A cash bar will be available.

  • Former governor to sign books Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – Former Indiana Gov. Edgar Whitcomb will sign copies of his latest book at two book signings at the Perry County Public Library branches. 

    “Cilin II: A Solo Sailing Odyssey” chronicles Whitcomb’s 30,000-mile, six-year, solo sailing experience through Greece, Panama, Antigua, Australia and other destinations.
