  • Friends of the Library book sale set for Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Friends of the Perry County Public Library will hold their annual book sale at the Tell City branch, 2328 Tell Street, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
    A special preview sale for Friends of the Library members only will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday.
    New memberships will be accepted before and during this special sale. Applications for membership are available at the library and on the library’s Web site, www.tcpclibrary.org. Annual dues are $5 for individuals and $10 for families.

  • Reunions

    One-room school
    ST. CROIX – There will be a one-room school reunion Sunday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church Parish Hall in St. Croix.
    A carry-in meal will start at noon. Anyone who attended a one-room school is urged to attend. All are welcome to attend.

    The Cannelton Foundation, along with the city, has started plans for the annual Cannelton Heritage Fest and 175th anniversary of the city.

  • Rock the River for Lydia Haycraft Saturday

    CANNELTON – Rock the River for Lydia’s Wish, a poker run and music festival to benefit Lydia Haycraft, will be held Saturday at the Rocky Point Waterfront Grille.
    The poker run will begin with an 8 a.m. signup at Rocky Point. First bikes will be out at 10 a.m. and last bikes out will be at 11:30. All vehicles are welcome to participate. Cost is $20 per hand and $30 for double hands. This cost includes coffee and doughnuts, admission to the music festival and a meal.

    BOONVILLE – The 66th annual Lewis-Osborn(e) reunion will be Sunday at the Alcoa Clubhouse.
    A basket dinner will be shared at noon followed by games and entertainment.  All relatives and their friends are welcome to attend.

  • Silly Safari headed to local library

    PERRY COUNTY – Silly Safari’s Amazon Jungle John will present his “Bless the Beasts and the Children” animal show from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Perry County Public Library – Tell City branch.
    Amazon Jungle John, who once worked as a disc jockey and loves vultures, gibbons and reindeer, will be ready to entertain children with a variety of nocturnal animals, tales and legends.
