  • Cornerstone Christian to host soup supper

    CANNELTON - Cornerstone Christian School will host its annual all-you-can-eat soup supper from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton. Cost of $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger will include soup, a drink and dessert. Soup varieties include chili, potato, bean and veggie.

  • Winter agriculture workshops to begin Jan. 27

    PERRY COUNTY – The public is invited to join Sara Dzimianski, extension educator for agriculture and natural resources and the Perry County FFA for a series of winter agriculture workshops.
    Topics will include the U.S. Farm Bill, farm succession planning, pond management, beekeeping and more.
    Workshops will be held in the agriculture building at Perry Central, co-hosted by the Perry Central FFA.

  • Conservation district annual meeting Feb. 3

    BRISTOW – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 67th annual meeting Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Bristow Community Center.

    The 6:30 p.m. meeting begins with a dinner of roast beef, pulled pork and vegetables. The main presentation will be by M.R. James, editor and founder of Bowhunter magazine. James, whose magazine documented the growth of modern bowhunting, has stood beside legendary hunters, innovators and manufacturers.

    Horseman’s club schedules winter euchre games
    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host euchre games throughout winter.

    The next games will be held Saturday, Jan. 24. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door and 25 cents per euchre game.

    Chili, hot dogs, desserts, coffee, sodas and water will be available.
    No smoking is permitted in the building. All games are open to the public ages 16 and older.

  • CPR, free quit-smoking classes, health screenings available this month

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes this month.

    Classes are held in the Perry County Emergency Management Services building classroom.

    • Family and Friends CPR is designed for anyone 12 and older who wants to learn CPR, choking-rescue skills and automated external defibrillator use. No testing or evaluation is required.
    Class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Fee is $10.

  • Orchid-growing workshop planned for Jan. 20

    PERRY COUNTY – The Purdue Master Gardeners of Dubois, Perry and Spencer counties offer fun, educational events for the public. This is a program of the Purdue Extension Service. Events will be held the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. and will last approximately one hour. The location will vary depending on the program.  Programs are free unless otherwise noted.

    Growing Gorgeous Orchids will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. at Spencer County 4-H Center, Hwy 70 in Chrisney. Ron Giles will present the program.

  • Relay For Life season kickoff begins today

    TELL CITY – The 20th annual Relay For Life of Perry County will hold its kickoff celebrations Monday, Jan. 12, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Tell City Moose Lodge.

    All residents are invited to attend the celebrations.

    Games, prizes, food, fun and information will be provided. Friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers are invited – everyone knows someone who is fighting or has fought this disease.

  • Gary Burden benefit auction and dinner set for Jan. 24

    TELL CITY – Family and friends of Perry County resident Gary Burden will hold a benefit auction and dinner later this month. Burden, 65, was recently diagnosed with cancer of the lungs and liver. The community is invited to attend the benefit and show their support for Gary in his fight against cancer.

    The benefit will be held from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the auction house at 331 Main Street in Tell City.

  • Social News

    AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT 213 will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the post home in Tell City. Charlotte Lindauer, president, will preside and encourages all auxiliary members to attend.

    THE BRISTOW COMMUNITY CENTER hosts euchre games at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the center.
