    VFW to host breakfast buffet
    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the post home. Eggs will be made to order. Cost is $5.50 plus tax and the public is invited.

  • Cannelton library to begin new hours of operation Jan. 2

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton branch of the Perry County Public Library will begin new hours of operation Friday, Jan. 2.

    Hours will be from 1 to 6 p.m.  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

  • Library to close Dec. 24-27 for holidays, computer upgrades

    PERRY COUNTY – The Tell City and Cannelton branches of the Perry County Public Library will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday, and Friday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 27, for computer system upgrades. Libraries will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s.

    THE DAUGHTERS OF ISABELLA will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, in the St. Paul Catholic Church parish hall. The committee for refreshments will be Betty Litherland, Bernadette Linne, Elizabeth Linne, Cathy Lock and Judith Lorenz.   • Soil and water conservation district plans 67th meeting

    BRISTOW – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 67th annual meeting Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Bristow Community Center.

    The 6:30 p.m. meeting will begin with a dinner of roast beef, pulled pork and vegetables.

    The main presentation will be by M.R. James, editor and founder of Bowhunter magazine.

    James, whose magazine documented the growth of modern bowhunting, has stood beside legendary hunters, innovators and manufacturers.

  • Financial-aid workshop set for Jan. 14

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host a financial-aid workshop for seniors and their parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the school library.

    A financial-aid representative will explain step-by-step procedures for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and answer questions students or parents may have.

    Filing the FAFSA is a necessity for consideration for financial assistance for college. All parents of students who plan to file the FAFSA are encouraged to attend. The deadline to apply is March 10.

  • Jasper’s Food Pantry to close for New Year’s Day

    CANNELTON – Jasper’s Food Pantry in Cannelton will be closed Thursday, Jan. 1. It will reopen from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2.

  • Relay For Life kickoff to begin Monday, Jan. 12

    TELL CITY – The 20th annual Relay For Life of Perry County will hold its kickoff celebrations Monday, Jan. 12, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Tell City Moose Lodge.

    All residents are invited to attend the celebrations. Games, prizes, food, fun and information will be provided. Friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers – everyone knows someone who is fighting or has fought this disease.

  • Winter ag workshop series to start in January

    PERRY COUNTY – The Purdue Extension office in Perry County and Perry Central FFA will team up to provide a series of six agriculture workshops.

    Dates are Jan. 13 and 27, Feb. 10 and 24 and March 10 and March 24. These workshops will cover topics such as cover crops, wildlife management, pond management and responsible pesticide use. Most worships will be held in the agriculture classroom at Perry Central. If classes at Perry Central are canceled that day and if road conditions permit, workshops will be moved to the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds.
