  • Relay for Life rally Monday

    TELL CITY – A Relay for Life Rally is planned for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Tell City Moose Lodge. Those attending can learn more about plans for next year’s  Relay for Life.

    There will be games and prizes. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, those attending are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The public is invited.

  • Chrisney Sesquicentennial kicks off today

    CHRISNEY – The long awaited 150th birthday for the Spencer County community of Chrisney begins at 5 p.m. today and will carry on through Sunday. All are invited to the Chrisney Town Park, where most events will be held.

    Emmanuel Lutheran soup supper Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church, at 12th and Pestalozzi streets in Tell City, invites everyone to its annual soup supper Saturday, Oct. 10. Serving will be in the church’s fellowship hall starting at 4 p.m.

    The church’s “classic soup,” barbecued chicken, creek fried potatoes, green beans, homemade slaw and desserts will be served.

  • Photo shoot Saturday

    TELL CITY – There will be a Pop Up Pin Up Photoshoot Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. downtown in Tell City. Organizers are in search of props such as rat rods, muscle cars, motorcycles, old vintage things, and much more. If you would like to volunteer please call Kelly Jo at (812) 608-0626. A full 12 month calendar will be made of the shoot and prints will be available for purchase.

  • Open house and antique tractor show Sunday

    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with Early Days Antique Club, will host an open house Sunday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Meinrad Community Center and Park.

    Organizers say all are welcome to go eat, view the trucks and antiques, visit with members and buy last minute raffle tickets for $5.

    The first place prize in the raffle is $1,000, and the raffle drawing will take place at 2:30 p.m.

    Chicken and pork chop dinners, as well as hamburgers and desserts will be available beginning at 9:30 a.m.

    PERRY COUNTY – The Annual Ladies Day Out event Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3, features many promotions, including discounts, a drawing, giveaways and free health screenings.

    Historical Society to meet today

     

    TELL CITY — The monthly meeting of the Tell City Historical Society will begin at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at the Tell City Historical Society Museum. There will be a special program titled “Veterans Stories of World War II” as told by Bill Simpson.

    Everyone is invited to attend. The museum is located at the corner of Franklin and Ninth streets.

  • Theme is ‘not so scary’ at Halloween Weekends

    SANTA CLAUS – The four holiday-themed sections at Holiday World will present a single theme Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend, as the park premieres this year’s Happy Halloween Weekends Sept. 26.

  • Rome plans Oct. 4 Heritage Tour events

    ROME – The community of Rome will host activities the first weekend of the Hoosier Heritage Fall tour Sunday, Oct. 4.

    Fried chicken dinners with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, slaw and homemade dessert will served in the courthouse. Serving will begin at 11 a.m.

    An all-day concession stand will sell hamburgers, cheeseburgers, barbecue and soft drinks.

    There will be live music by the House Kat Trio with Rita, Ray and Teddy.
