  • OAKS Senior Center plans Washington DC trip

    PERRY COUNTY – The OAKS Senior Center is planning a Washington, D.C. trip from June 13 to June 18.
    The trip is open to the public and includes five nights lodging, eight meals – five breakfasts and three dinners – two full-day guided tours featuring the World War II memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Smithsonian Museum, the new Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and more.

  • SOS Kids Parent Network program in Jasper set for March 7

    JASPER – The SOS Kids Parent Network will present the program Apps for Children with Special Needs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. EST March 7 at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Highway 56 in Jasper. Those attending are asked to use the lower level entrance on the north side of the church.
    The program will feature the SW Regional Coordinator of the Promoting Achievement through Technology and Instruction for all Students Project, Sandy Stabenfeldt.

  • Annual New Boston soup sale set for Sunday

    NEW BOSTON – The New Boston Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host its annual soup sale Sunday at the New Boston Fire Department.
    Soup will be ready for pickup by noon and cost is $12 per gallon. All proceeds from the sale will go to the New Boston Fire Department.

  • Annual Rome VFD chili supper set for March 9

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will hold a chili supper beginning at 5 p.m. March 9 at the Rome Community Center.
    A country store will be set up and sell pies, cakes, cookies, bread, candies, canned goods and more. The menu for the supper will be chili, plain or with grated cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cookies and a drink. One refill of chili will be allowed with each meal.

  • Farm Bureau meeting March 7 at Bristow

    PERRY COUNTY – The annual meeting of Perry County Farm Bureau Inc. is set for March 7 at the Bristow Community Center. A pork-chop dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
    The evening’s guest speaker will be Perry County Sheriff Lee Chestnut, who will speak about the new jail under construction near the county courthouse.
    A short business meting will begin at 7:15 p.m., with an election of delegates and reporting of past activities.

  • Next TNR program set for March 18

    PERRY COUNTY – County residents are asked to help the Perry County Animal Shelter in controlling stray cats in the area with a trap, neuter and release program.
    The program is for stray cats only. Residents who are willing to capture a stray may take it to the shelter at 200 Herzeele St. in Cannelton between 5:30 and 6 a.m. March 18.
     For $30 per cat, a service from Vanderburgh County will have the cats spayed or neutered. Traps are available to borrow from the shelter for a $5 fee.

  • Formal and prom dress sale March 3

    TELL CITY – The Perry Central After-Prom Committee is once again sponsoring its annual formal and prom dress sale fundraiser March 3 at the Schergens Center in Tell City.
    The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To participate, take clean dresses to the Schergens Center March 3. There is a fee to enter the dresses and the seller will set the sale price and receive the total purchase prise of their dresses. Cost to submit one to four dresses is $10; five to nine dresses is $15 and 10 or more dresses is $20.
