  • Horseman’s Club fun horse show Aug. 26

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a Fun Horse Show and Benefit on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. CT. The club is located at 9455 Summer Road, north of Tell City. Follow signs from approximately 6 miles north  on State Road 37.

    There will be games for all ages, providing fun for all participants and spectators. There is some bleacher seating available but lawn chairs are recommended.

  • Tough Cookie Mud Run, a 5k Obstacle Race at Camp Koch in September

    CANNELTON – Saturday, Sept. 16, Girl Scout Camp Koch near Cannelton will host a challenging 5k course of muddy pits, hurdles, ropes, climbing walls, fire, ice, natural obstacles and more for both experienced and novice runners.

    Men and women who will be at least 14 years old by race day are invited to participate in this fun challenge. The race will be from 3 to 6 p.m. with an after party to follow at the Pour Haus in Tell City.

    Deer Creek Baptist Church concert Monday

     

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will host a homecoming concert featuring Lambsong, July 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

     

    Karaoke events planned for August

     

    DERBY – Tune those vocal pipes. The Cannelcade of Music will present a reunion for participants of Jerry’s Karaoke-Viking Karaoke, in honor of Jerry Kamies.

  • Schweizer Fest dinner to honor Domtar

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Schweizer Fest Testimonial Dinner Thursday, Aug. 10. Join the Schweizer Fest Committee, as they give this year’s honor to Domtar Paper Company. This year’s Schweizer Fest Testimonial Dinner is set to take place at the Knights of Columbus Home located at 947 11th St., Tell City. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

  • Zoar Mosquito Fest Aug. 4-5

    ZOAR – The Annual Zoar Mosquito Fest will be held Aug. 4-5, at Zoar United Methodist Church in Zoar. Festivities include a Wffleball tourney, chicken dinners, homemade ice cream, old fashioned games, a flea market, flower, quilt and produce shows, country and gospel music, stationary parade, country store, craft demonstrations, hula hoop contest and a pedal tractor. Admission is free and there are plenty of shady trees.

    VFW to hold breakfast buffet Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – The Tell City VFW will host a buffet style breakfast with made-to-order eggs. The next breakfast buffet will be July 29, from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The breakfast will be at the VFW Post at 301 Main St. in Tell City.

    Guests are invited to go try the expanded buffet this month, which includes fruit, coffee and juice. The costs is $7.

  • Fishing opportunities abound within county’s share of HNF

    Hoosier National Forest

     

    Many anglers who visit the Hoosier National Forest are probably familiar with our larger lakes.Lakes Celina, Indian, Tipsaw and Springs Valley see thousands of visitors each year. These lakes continue to produce good catches of bass, catfish and sunfish on an annual basis. 

    There are signs along the highway that point you in the right direction and get you to and on the water. These larger lakes are managed in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

  • Community Events; July 20

    Friends of the Perry County Library meeting Monday

     

    TELL CITY – The Friends of the Perry County Public Library will meet Monday, July 24, at the Tell City Library in the Community Room at 7 p.m.

    The order of business will be discussing the end of the Summer Children’s Program and the Schweizer Fest Book Sale set for Saturday, Aug. 12, at the library.

  • Folk art on display at abbey library

    Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting an exhibit by Posey County folk artist Tom Wintczak. The show will run from July 17 through Aug. 31.

    The “Value in Folk Art” exhibit includes ceramics in the style of Early American settlers and Fraktur painting that was used to embellish documents of various kinds. Wintczak is inspired by early folk art, but does not make reproductions. He uses the old tools and techniques to express his values and tell his story.

  • Beatles tribute returns to Lincoln City

    LINCOLN CITY – Back for a return engagement at the Lincoln Amphitheatre, Hard Day’s Night first graced the Amphitheatre’s stage in October 2015 to much fanfare and a fantastic reception.
