  • Fundraising Boardstock kicks off Friday in St. Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – Boardstock, a two-day music fest, will be held Friday and Saturday at the St. Meinrad Community Center in honor of the life of Eric. W. Board.
    All proceeds from the event will be used to buy a gravestone for Board.

  • Film screening at Lincoln Boyhood set for June 1

    LINCOLN CITY – The film, “The Why in the Road,” will be shown at the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial at noon June 1.
    Sponsored by Preserving the Historic Road 2012, the hour-long film takes viewers on a journey down Indiana’s historic roads in an attempt to answer the question, “Why would anyone want to preserve a historic road?”
    A second showing of the film will be held at noon June 5. Both showings will be at the park’s Memorial Visitor Center.

  • Annual Southern Indiana Republican golf tournament June 25

    SANTA CLAUS – The Southern Indiana Republican Invitational Golf Tournament will be June 25 with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
    The event will take place at the Chirstmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Perry, Spencer and Dubois County Republican Party organizations.

    SELVIN – Anyone related to Charles Edwin Harper and Mary C. “Molly” Riddle is invited to attend a family reunion at 11 a.m. Saturday at Yellow Banks Center in Selvin.
    The children of Charles and Molly are Bessie Leigh (Harper) Wright, Clarence Edwin Harper, James Silas Harper and Charles Augustus “Gus” Harper.
    Children from Mattison Franklin Riddle and Molly Riddle are Olive M. Riddle and Howard F. Riddle.

  • Herbal remedies program at library June 1

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch will host Cindy Jones, a representative of Herbs and Health Care Inc. at 1 p.m. June 1.
    Jones will give a presentation on using herbal remedies. She will focus on the various uses of single and herbal combinations as an alternative to traditional medicine. Developing healthy habits by using supplements will also be discussed. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the event to learn more.

  • Dale townwide yard sale June 7-8

    DALE – The Dale Women’s Organization invites the public to the 10th annual townwide yard sale in Dale June 7 and 8.
    The deadline to register as a vendor for the event will be Thursday. Vendor registration will benefit the group’s back to school supply program and the Toys for Kids program at Christmas.

    A softball tournament will also be held that day.
    The Dale Women’s Organization is a nonprofit group for the betterment of the children in north Spencer County.

  • JFK Pool to open to the public June 2

    TELL CITY – The JFK Pool in Tell City will open June 2 for the 2013 summer season. Hours for the pool will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
    Admission is $3 per person for anyone over 4 years of age. Children who are 4 years and younger are admitted for free.
    Pool passes are available at city hall or at the pool. Cost is $40 for a book of 20 passes.

  • Annual River Sweep set for June 15

    SPENCER COUNTY – River Sweep 2013 has been scheduled for June 15 along the shoreline of the Ohio River and its many tributaries. Volunteers are needed for this massive event.
    River Sweep is a riverbank cleanup that extends the entire length of the Ohio River and beyond. More than 3,000 miles of shoreline will be combed for trash and debris. This is the largest environmental event of its kind and encompasses six states.
