  • Fourth of July Picnic June 29 through July 1

    TELL CITY – Moose Lodge 1424 in Tell City will again sponsor its annual Fourth of July Picnic in Zoercher–Bettinger Park on Tell City’s north side. This year’s dates are June 29 through July 1.
    Any nonprofit organization interested in reserving space in the park for fundraising activities can call Bill Coyle at 547-7867 or 547-6885. Booth rental is $50 for all three days.

    Schmidt – Dauby
    PERRY COUNTY – The descendants of John E. Schmidt and Emily Dauby Schmidt are invited to a family reunion at noon Saturday at the Alcoa Clubhouse near Newburgh.
    Those attending are asked to take food, utensils and drinks.

    Legion selling fiddler dinners Friday
    TELL CITY – American Legion 213 will sell fiddler dinners from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the post home.
    Cost is $6.95.

  • Rome VFD poker run set for Saturday

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will host a poker run June 16. The event will start at Braunie’s Bar in Tell City with registration from 9 to 11 a.m. All bikes are to be out by 11 a.m. and in by 5 p.m. Entry fee is $15 per person or $25 per couple and includes a meal. Motorcycles, cars and pickup trucks are welcome.
    There will be door prizes and half-pot drawings.

  • Girl Scout pool party set for Thursday in Tell City

    TELL CITY – All Perry County Girl Scouts are invited to a pool party Thursday at the JFK Pool in the 1000 block of 13th Street in Tell City. The party will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Those interested in becoming Girl Scouts are also invited to the party; take your information and fill out a registration form to sign up.

  • Dog Days of Summer dog show, race at Oakwood June 28

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City will host its first Dog Days of Summer Dog Show and Race at 6:30 p.m. June 28 at Oakwood Health Campus. Trophies will be awarded to first- , second- and third-place winners in the following categories: best dressed, best trick and residents choice. There will also be a dog race for large-medium and small breeds.
    Hot dogs, chips and drink will be served.

    Evanston kickball tourney June 2

    EVANSTON – The Evanston Civic Association kickball tourney will kick off at 9 a.m. June 2. Teams of eight to 10 people of all ages are welcome.

    Cost is $150 per team and teams along with names must be submitted by today. A free T-shirt will be given to everyone who plays.

    Concessions will be available and all proceeds will go to support the civic association.
