  • Twilight Towers to host dance, entertainment June 19

    TELL CITY – The Twilight Towers Tenant Council gathered May 20, with President Joyce Richardt leading the meeting.

    Celebrating May birthdays were Nancy Lyons,Mary Ann Weatherholt, Carl Sommer, Mary Holpp, Omia Linne, Ray Greathouse, Virgie Hubert, Mac Roberts, Kathleen Ludwig, Joyce Richardt, Betty Kessans, Cheryl Tanzey and Bud Richardt.

    The council expressed thanks to everyone who attended the annual yard sale May 16. Susan Coyle was the quilt winner.

  • PCMH offers free health screenings, classes in June

    TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will provide free blood-pressure, glucose, and total-cholesterol screenings this month.

    Screenings will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Housing for the Elderly and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at Derby’s Smackwater Cove.

    PCMH’s Home Health Department will also provide free blood-pressure and glucose (sugar) screenings at from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Twilight Towers.

  • Voice your opinion on community’s future June 9

    PERRY COUNTY – People who live or work in Perry County completed nearly 1,000 surveys as part of a Hometown Collaboration Initiative. Now the effort’s lead team is preparing for an upcoming community forum to review results.

    The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, and will be held at ATTC Manufacturing.

    First United Methodist to host blood drive


    TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30.

    Donors must take identification or a Red Cross card. First United Methodist Church is located at 702 10th St.

    VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS POST 2939 Ladies Auxiliary will host an annual summer party beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at the post home.

    St. Paul’s TGIF set for Friday


    TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host its annual “TGIF” from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 29, in the church parking lot.

    Entertainment will be provided by Leo Gronquist and friends. Food and drinks will be available.

    In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. TGIF is free and will be open to the public.

    Beekeeping workshop set for Tuesday


    BRANCHVILLE – Purdue Extension, Perry County and the Perry County Bee Keepers are holding a beekeeping workshop May 26. 

    The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a hive-opening demonstration.

    Bill Gibson will do a hive- opening demonstration at the Robert Gibson place located at 19680 Old St. Road 37, Branchville, one mile north of  Perry Central High School.

    THE PERRY COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY will have its annual spring membership meeting and appreciation breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, in the new PCMH education room. 

  • Legion treasure hunt drawing May 29

    TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 will have a weekly treasure-hunt drawing beginning Friday, May 29.

    The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. and will continue every Friday thereafter.

    Tickets are now on sale at the post home. The public is welcome to attend the drawing and purchase tickets.
