  • Bicentennial old-time fashion show planned

    TELL CITY – To celebrate Perry County’s bicentennial, an old-time fashion show will be presented  Saturday, Nov. 1, with the help of the Lafayette Spring Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Eli Huston Murray Chapter, Daughters of the Union.

    All eras of clothing from Perry County history are welcomed. Participants must register and provide a description of the outfit to be worn.

  • Friday reunion to mark pool’s 50 years

    A reunion is planned for 6:10 p.m. Friday for all past workers and supporters to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of John F. Kennedy Pool.

    The event will be held in Musik Hall in City Hall Park. The public is encouraged to take photos or other memorabilia. For more information, call Tony Hollinden at 547-3441.

  • Wine garden Saturday in City Hall Park

    The seventh annual Schweizer Fest Wine Garden in City Hall Park will feature Perry County wineries Blue Heron and Winzerwald. They will be joined by Scout Mountain Winery, Monkey Hollow Winery, Pepper’s Ridge Winery, River City Winery and Best Vineyards. There is a $10 entry fee and ID will be required. Hours are noon to 6 p.m.

  • Kids’ talents on display during street car parade

    TELL CITY – Youngsters’ creativity will be on display Wednesday evening, Aug. 6, during the Schweizer Fest Street Car Parade.

    Registration of street-car entries will begin at 6:45 p.m. in front of Hauenstein’s in the 500 block of Main Street.

    The parade will start at 7:30 p.m. from the corner of Main and Franklin streets and will advance up Main Street to City Hall Park. Prizes will be awarded to contestants in various age categories around 7:45 p.m.

  • Kaffee Klatch breakfast returns Wednesday

    Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa will host its traditional Kaffee Klatch breakfast for the 40th year Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Breakfast will begin this year at 7 a.m. and continue until 10. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12. Younger children can eat for free. Tickets are available through Tri Kappa members and at Old National or German American banks.  For more information, call Jodi Robinson at 719-7404.

  • Talk to an attorney for free Aug. 7

    EVANSVILLE –The next talk-to-a-lawyer telephone clinic is set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7. Volunteer attorneys will be available to answer general legal questions at no charge.  To contact the clinic, call (888) 594-3449.

    Talk to a Lawyer is a service sponsored by Volunteer Lawyer Program of Southwestern Indiana, Indiana Bar Foundation and the Evansville Bar Foundation.

  • Aug. 26 workshop set for goat, sheep producers

    TELL CITY – A workshop explaining a diagnostic test to help small rumninant producers identify animals that reqiure working treatment is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds in Tell City. Cost is $20 per family.

  • First Methodist to host 5K, 10K run-walk

    TELL CITY – The Tell City First United Methodist Church will hold its 2nd annual 5K and 10K beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 20. Participants should register at the back church parking lot near 11th and Mozart streets.

    Routes for both groups will begin on 11th Street with 5K runners heading north and 10K participants going south.

  • Schweizer Fest annual bench-press competition returns Aug. 9

    TELL CITY – EverBody’s will hold its annual Schweizer Fest bench press contest at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9. Weigh-ins will start at 9 a.m.

    Entry fee will be $20 if registered by Aug. 2 or $25 after Aug. 2. This will also guarantee a T-shirt.

    Competitors must be at least 15 years old to compete. Those under 18 years old will need a parent or guardian’s signature to participate.

    Historical society picnic today

    TELL CITY – The annual summer picnic for the Tell City Historical Society is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at the Moose Lodge in Tell City.

    The meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. Chicken and drinks will be furnished and members are asked to take a covered dish.
