    Halloween party in Troy Sunday

     

    TROY – The annual Troy Fire Department Halloween kids party will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Troy Fire House. Festivities begin at 4 p.m. and include games, treats, hay rides, an inflatable, and fire safety information.

     

    Shooting match at coon club Sunday

     

  • St. Isidore shooting match Sunday

    BRISTOW – The annual St. Isidore shooting match has been set for this Sunday, Oct. 18, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Bristow.

    The ham and turkey shoot will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closed match – beef and pork – will begin at 2:30 p.m. First choice is a half of beef.

    Lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. and will include homemade chili, hamburgers, homemade pie, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water. A country store, cake stand, splatter boards, pull tabs, children’s games and bingo will also be available.

    Legion unit 213 to meet Oct. 21

     

    TELL CITY – American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213 will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Post Home in Tell City. Shelley Howland will preside and encourages all members and prospective members to attend.

     

    Troy Fire Department to host soup sale

     

    TROY – The Troy Fire Department annual fall soup sale will be Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Troy Fire House.

  • 25th annual Witches Walk scheduled for Oct. 29

    PERRY COUNTY - The Perry County Chamber of Commerce and area merchants will be “treating” local residents to a safe Halloween during this year’s Witches Walk scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5  to 7 p.m. 

    Children will go store-to-store dressed in costumes seeking “goodies” from local merchants that participate in the Witches Walk. Children and their parents are asked to look for the green poster with the witch to identify those businesses participating in the candy give-away.

  • Mt. Zion’s 35th annual Apple Fest this weekend at Honey Creek Farm

    ROCKPORT – Mt. Zion Church will host the 35th annual Apple Fest at American Electric Power’s Honey Creek Farm Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-11.

    Festivities  will start at 8 a.m. and last until 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

    The fest will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts from southern Indiana, lots of food and Indiana’s largest apple pie.

    The farm is located at U.S. 231 and County Road 500 N.

  • Oct. 26 golf scramble will benefit Toys for Tots

    TELL CITY – This year’s golf scramble benefitting Toys for Tots will be held Monday, Oct. 26, at the Hoosier Heights Country Club in Tell City. A shotgun start will begin at noon with three flights. There will be prizes and putting and hole contests. Grilled pork-chop dinners will be donated by the New Boston Tavern and will be served in the country club’s banquet room.

    The tax-deductible entry fee is $60 per person and includes, along with the meal, greens fees, cart, beverages, skins game and gift bag.

    Emmanuel Lutheran soup supper Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church, at 12th and Pestalozzi streets in Tell City, invites everyone to its annual soup supper Saturday, Oct. 10. Serving will be in the church’s fellowship hall starting at 4 p.m.

    The church’s “classic soup,” barbecued chicken, creek fried potatoes, green beans, homemade slaw and desserts will be served.

  • Veterans Day 5K and 10K planned for Nov. 7

    PERRY COUNTY – On Nov. 7, in honor of Veterans Day, the Perry County Marines along with the Perry County Museum will host the “Semper Five” 5K and the “Marine Tough” 10K. Runners and walkers are encouraged to participate.

  • Relay for Life rally Monday

    TELL CITY – A Relay for Life Rally is planned for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Tell City Moose Lodge. Those attending can learn more about plans for next year’s  Relay for Life.

    There will be games and prizes. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, those attending are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. The public is invited.
