  • Tell City VFW to mark 79-year anniversary

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will celebrate its 79th anniversary Saturday at the VFW post in Tell City with a dinner and dance.
    The ladies and men’s auxiliary units and VFW members, along with their spouses, are invited to at-tend.
    The carry-in dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. Ev-eryone attending should take a covered dish. The post will furnish the meat.
    After the meal, there will be a short program followed by a dance around 8 p.m. The band Sweetwater will provide the entertainment.

  • Benefit for Zach Taylor Jan. 26 at fairgrounds

    TELL CITY – A benefit for Zach Taylor has been set for Jan. 26 at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds.
    The day will include food, games, an auction and more. Chicken dinners will be available beginning at noon. An auction will start at 2 p.m. and a euchre tourney, chili supper and baked goods will be available at 6 p.m.
    Items of like-new or new condition will be accepted for the auction. Monetary donations will also be ac-cepted.

    Parks and rec board to meet
    CANNELTON – The Perry County Parks and Re-creation board will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 16 at the courthouse annex in Cannelton.

  • Annual Tell City band auction set for Feb. 16

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Band Boosters will hold their annual auction Feb. 16 in the Tell City Junior-Senior High School Cafeteria. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m. so bidders can check out the items.
    There will be a silent auction from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The main auction, called by Dixon and Dixon, will begin at 10:30. Food will be available.

    William Tell New Year’s Eve dance

    TELL CITY – The William Tell Center in Tell City will host a New Year’s Eve dance from 8 p.m. to midnight today. The dance is open to the public.

  • Southern Indiana Grazing Conference coming Feb. 6

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District invites livestock producers in Perry County to attend the Southern Indiana Grazing Conference.
     It will be held Feb. 6 at the Simon J. Graber Building in Odon. Registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. and the conference time is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Speakers and topics are:
    • Walt Davis, Okla., producer, “Tricks of the Trade and Grazing for Grain”
    • David Hall, Mo., producer, “Selecting Cattle for Fescue Tolerance”

    New Year’s Eve dance at Moose Monday

  • Annual Ferdinand bridal expo Jan. 13

    FERDINAND – The 11th annual Ferdinand prom and bridal expo will be held from noon to 4 p.m. EST Jan. 13 at the Ferdinand Community Center.
    More than 30 businesses will be available to help make proms and weddings special. Participants will be able to sample catered foods and cakes. Those attending will also be able to register for prizes. A fashion show will be provided by Cinderella’s of Tell City.

  • Hunter-ed class in Dubois County

    DUBOIS COUNTY – An Indiana Hunter Education Class will be offered Jan. 19 and 26 at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds.
    Classes will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Jan. 19 and from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 26. Participants must attend both days to complete the course. All Indiana residents are invited to complete this free course.  Lunch will be provided for participants and attending family members both days for $5 per person. Pre-registration is required.
