  • K of C chicken dinners Sunday in TC

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus Council 1172 will serve barbecue dinners Sunday at the corner of 12th and Tell streets. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. and chicken will be barbecued with the “Old Jaycee” recipe. The community is encouraged to stop by.
    All proceeds from the dinners will go to support the K of C boys home, Gibault Inc.

  • Reunion Planning

    TCHS 1958
    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1958 reunion committee will hold its monthly 55th reunion meeting at 1:30 p.m. April 10. The committee consists of Jack Huebschman, Joe Hargerdorn, Jerry Birchler, Gary Feltner, Jean Goffinet, Louise Hendrickson, Carol Voges, Mary Elaine Reisz, Dorothy Sanders and Diana Feltner. All committee members are urged to attend.

  • Give patients in need a fresh start this spring

    PERRY COUNTY – Flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing and eggs are hatching. It’s spring, a time of renewal. For hospital patients in need of blood, hope for a fresh start comes from generous donors. Spring into action and give hope by giving blood, the Red Cross urges.
    Local donation opportunities will be from 1 to 6 p.m. April 5 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City; from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Santa Claus and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 at William Tell Elementary in Tell City.

    Rome VFD annual meeting today

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. today in the Rome Community Center.

  • Indiana Artisan Marketplace preview Friday; annual event Saturday, Sunday

    INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Artisan Marketplace will offer greater access to the state’s best artists and “foodists” when it opens early for “A Taste of the Indiana Artisan Marketplace” preview party Friday. Guests will be able to buy one-of-a-kind art and food from more than 150 artisans while booths are stocked fully and the crowd is smaller

  • Children’s book week story times released

    PERRY COUNTY – Children, birth through sixth grade, and their parents are invited to participate in the observance of Children’s Book Week at the Perry County Public Library branches May 13 through May 16.
    The staff and some community volunteers will share stories with children and refreshments will be served during the story times. Free new or gently used books, color-changing pencils and other items will be given away. Children ages birth to 6 years old are welcome.

    Chestnut Grove to host egg hunt Saturday
    TELL CITY – The Chestnut Grove Church welcomes the public to an Easter-egg hunt Saturday on the church grounds.
    The hunt will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.

    Legion egg hunt in Cannelton Saturday
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion Post 142 and its auxiliary unit will sponsor their annual Easter-egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cannelton Legion Field.
