  • American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life supports free patient programs, local services

    PERRY COUNTY – It’s time to fight back against cancer and offer help to patients in Perry County who are battling the disease. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Perry County will take place June 8-9 starting at 2 p.m. at Perry Central High School.

  • Hunter-ed course Tuesday

    CHRISNEY – Spencer County volunteer hunter-education instructors, along with Indiana Conservation Officers, will conduct a hunter education class Tuesday through Thursday.

  • Talk to DNR groundwater expert today

    SPENCER COUNTY – In honor of National Groundwater Awareness Week, Facebook followers of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources can “talk” online about groundwater with environmental scientist Monique Riggs from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT today on the DNR’s Facebook wall.
    Riggs will talk and answer questions about why it’s important to properly construct and maintain wells and plug abandoned wells. Participants are invited to join the conversation and ask questions.

    TELL CITY – Swimming lessons for children 4 to 12 years old will be held at the Tell City Junior-Senior High School from March 25 to April 4.

  • Puertzer named to fall 2012 dean’s list at Ivy Tech college

    EVANSTON – Joshua Puertzer of Evanston has earned a spot on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Ivy Tech Community College. Puertzer is the son of Jerry and Jennifer Puertzer of Evanston.

  • Annual coon club shooting match Sunday

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Coon Club will hold its annual shooting match Sunday at the club.
    The ham shoot will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the closed match begins at 2:30 p.m. Prizes will include ham, pork, beef and first choice half beef. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
     

  • Free PCMH screenings

    TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital offers free blood-pressure, glucose (sugar) and total-cholesterol screenings. This is a free community service offered at two different locations every month.
    A registered nurse will be at Bandon Tavern from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday and at Stein’s Garage in Lamar from 8 to 10 a.m. March 21.
