    St. John Chrysostom fall social Sunday

     

    NEW BOSTON – St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church in New Boston invites the community to its annual fall social on Sunday, Nov. 8, in the parish hall.

    There will be something to do for everyone in the family. Food will be in no short supply, with chili, burgers and homemade desserts.

    Serving will begin at 10 a.m. The day will also include a country store, silent auction and quilt raffle.

  • Perry County hike schedule released for 2015-16 winter, spring season

    PERRY COUNTY – The hiking schedule for the 2015-16 season will begin Saturday, Nov. 7, with a 5-mile hike on Tipsaw Trail. Participants should meet at the entrance on Indiana 37 at 8:30 a.m.

    The full schedule is as follows, with all hikes beginning at 8:30 a.m.

    Saturday Nov. 7: Tipsaw Trail (5 miles). Meet at entrance on Indiana 37.

    Saturday, Dec. 5: Two Lakes Trail W, (8 miles), Indiana 37 south of St. Croix. Meet at Celina entrance.

    Saturday, Dec. 19: Mogan Ridge E, (5 miles). Meet at Derby Park (Indiana 66 and 70).

    Troy Fire Department to host soup sale

     

    TROY – The Troy Fire Department annual fall soup sale will be Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Troy Fire House.

    Serving is set to begin at 11 a.m. Those wanting bulk soup are encouraged to take containers.

     

    VFW breakfast buffets Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the post home.

  • Perry County 4-H sponsoring pork chop dinner, live auction Nov. 7

    PERRY COUNTY – The community is invited to support Perry County 4-H while enjoying a fun evening at the Perry County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the annual pork chop dinner and live auction.

    Dinner is at 5 p.m., and the auction starts at 6. All proceeds are used for the 4-H program and keeps programs  and activities affordable and available to all youth.

  • Relay for Life rally scheduled for Nov. 16

    TELL CITY – Relay For Life of Perry County will hold its November Relay Rally at the Tell City Moose Lodge beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16.

  • Holiday story times set for libraries

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Public Library’s autumn and holiday story times will begin on Monday, Nov. 9, and run through the week of Dec. 14, excluding the week of Thanksgiving. Kelli Wilgus is the new children’s assistant who will be presenting the baby-toddler and preschool story times. The baby-toddler story time is full, but there are openings for preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, on the following days and times: 

    Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m.

    Wednesday afternoons at the Cannelton Branch from 1 to 2 p.m.

  • Perry Childcare to host parents’ night out Friday

    TELL CITY – Perry Childcare will host a parents night out Friday, Oct. 30, from 6 p.m. to midnight.

    Children ages 6 weeks to 12 years will have a Halloween party, pizza and a Halloween movie at Perry Childcare at 1012 31st St. in Tell City.

    Those wishing to participate should make reservations within two days in advance and must fill out required paperwork.

    Perry childcare will host monthly parents night out events on the first Saturday of every month.

  • Noted ag economist to speak at Nov. 9 Extension Night program

    LEOPOLD – Indiana’s summer flooding has reduced production for many farms, yet favorable weather in other states kept national production near record levels.

    These conditions have depressed grain prices and set up a difficult financial situation for Indiana farmers with their low yields and low prices.

    The program will examine strategies for farm families to cope with this difficult year.
