  • Kids can meet K9 hero Jago at library Saturday

    TELL CITY –Tell City Police Officer Derrick Lawalin and his trained K-9 partner, Jago, will make a special visit to the Perry County Public Library’s Tell City branch at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, as part of the library’s summer “Hero” reading program.

    Jago, a German shepherd dog imported to the U.S. from Czechoslovakia, joined the Tell City Police Department in April 2006, when he was just 19 months old.

    Upon arrival, Jago was paired with Lawalin, and the two have served together ever since.

  • Museum to host benefit, auction at Wine Over Water

    ROCKY POINT – The Perry County Museum will host a fundraising event during Blue Heron Winery’s Wine Over Water planned for Friday, June 26, at the winery on the hill above Rocky Point. The event will start at 6 p.m. with admission and silent auction proceeds benefiting the museum.

  • Schweizer Fest Edelweiss Ball returning for second year

    TELL CITY – Schweizer Fest is still more than a month away, but plans for the city’s 57th celebration of Swiss and German heritage is already in full swing. One event returning for a second year is the Edelweiss Ball. Named after the national flower of Switzerland, the event is set for Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Schergens Center.

    Once a regular part of the Schweizer Fest, the galas were discontinued in the 1960s, but returned last year as a fundraising event for the Perry County Museum.

    Cruise For A Cause planned for June 27

     

    TELL CITY – Braunie’s Bar in Tell City will host “Cruise For A Cause” Saturday, June 27. This benefit ride will raise money for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. Motorcycles, jeeps and convertibles are welcome.

    Sign in will be at 9:30 a.m. CDT and the ride begins at 11. Cost is $10 per rider and $10 per passenger.

    JFK Pool to close for swim meet June 26-28

     

    TELL CITY – Due to an upcoming regional swim meet, the JFK Pool in Tell City will be closed to the public Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28. It will reopen for regular summer hours Monday, June 29.

     

    Perry County AA dinner meeting Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Alcoholics Anonymous will hold a dinner meeting Saturday at First United Methodist Church, located at 10th and Mozart streets in Tell City.

  • Social News; June 15

    CANNELTON AMERICAN LEGION POST 142 will hold its annual meeting and installation of officers Tuesday, June 16. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6. All members, auxiliary, junior auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and their families are invited.

    Meats and beverages will be provided. Members are asked to take a side dish or a dessert.

     

  • Adventures With Nature returning to Tipsaw Lake June 27

    TIPSAW – The 13th annual Adventures With Nature field day will be held at Tipsaw Lake Saturday, June 27. Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks, Perry and Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Purdue Extension Perry County and the U.S. Forest Service continue to work together to present the event.

    Activities will get underway at 9 a.m. and will conclude approximately 1 p.m.
