  • Registration open for Small Steps to Wellness

    LEOPOLD – The Small Steps to Wellness second-annual fun run-walk, hosted by Stepping Stones Preschool, will be held Saturday, April 18.

    Organizers invite the community to participate in this family-friendly event. All money raised will support our Small Steps to Wellness program with a portion going the Perry Central High School Baseball Team. This event directly benefits youth and their families in rural Perry County.

    The race will begin and end at Stepping Stones Preschool, 18020 Lafayette Street in Leopold. 

  • Plans in place for seventh annual Tour of Tables

    ROCKPORT – The seventh annual Tour of Tables, a fundraiser for The Way of Rockport, is scheduled for April 16. 

    This year, organizers decided to add a silent auction to the event. Supporters are visiting area businesses to solicit donations of auctionable items for this good cause.

    This year’s event will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Rockport. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a tour of tables and silent auction. The auction will close at 6:30 p.m. as dinner is served.

  • Community Events; April 9

    Moose Lodge dinners available Friday

     

    TELL CITY – Tell City Moose Lodge 1424 will sell barbecue-chicken and pork-chop dinners beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the corner of 12th and Tell streets. Cost is $8 per plate and includes a meal of a half of a chicken or a 1¼ inch thick pork chop, creek-fried potatoes and green beans.

  • Children’s theater to offer drama workshops

    MARENGO – Peacock Children’s Theatre, a nonprofit southern Indiana regional theater primarily by and for children, will hold creative drama workshops at Hillview Christian Church, on Thursdays April 16, 23, 30, and May 7 from 6:30 to 8 PM.  PCT’s goal is to encourage reading and learning about theatre. 

  • Jared Weeks of Saving Abel to perform at Covered Wagon

    CANNELTON – Jared Weeks, certified RIAA gold and multi-platinum artist with seven Top 10 Billboard hits, will perform live next weekend at the Covered Wagon in Cannelton.

    Weeks was singer and songwriter for the rock band Saving Abel from 2008 to 2013, before transitioning to the lead singer of the RIAA certified triple-platinum rock band Hinder.

    As an artist, Weeks has performed at most every major rock festival and bike fest in the country and has received awards from MTV, Fuse, VH1 and Music Choice.

  • Library to host lapidary program April 18

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Library will host a lapidary demonstration on Saturday, April 18 from 1 to 3 p.m.

    Katie Pappano, a member of the Evansville Lapidary Society, will demonstrate the process of taking a rough-cut stone and taking it through the various processes to shape and polish it.

    She will have stones in different stages of finishing and program attendees will be able to try their hands at stone grinding and polishing. Pappano will also have information on how to become a member of the society.

  • Toast to spring with wine, cheese on the Uplands Wine Trail

    SOUTHERN INDIANA – April is the perfect time to enjoy a “Toast to Spring” weekend on the Indiana Uplands Wine Trail. This popular wine and cheese pairing event will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12, and best of all – it’s absolutely free.

  • St. John’s to host dinner, euchre tourney April 18

    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will host a euchre tourney and dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the church.

    Everyone is invited for an evening of fun and fundraising. The Indiana Guatemala mission team is again raising funds for supplies for the people of Guatemala City and nearby communities. All money raised will go toward school supplies and hygiene kits.

    Dinner will include roast pork, sauerkraut (separate from the pork), mashed potatoes and gravy, sides and salads and homemade yeast rolls and desserts.

    THE MU GAMMA CHAPTER of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9 (today), at Evangelical United Church of Christ in the fellowship hall. Hostesses for the evening will be Sheilda Schmitt, Susan Harpenau, Tina Ziegelgruber and Vicki Whitehead.

     

    THE ST. MICHAEL ST. ANN SOCIETY will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20, in Father Marendt Hall. There will be a business meeting, bingo and refreshments. Hostesses will be Rachel Schaefer, Pauline Thorn, Virginia White and Helen Wittman.

     

  • Fundraiser fitness walk-runs planned for April 12, 18

    TELL CITY – During the week of April 12 through 18, local fitness walks are planned that will raise money for Catholic Charities of Tell City and Stepping Stones Preschool in Leopold.

    On Sunday, April 12,  a fitness walk to benefit Catholic Charities of Tell City will begin at noon in the City Hall Park.

    A minimum donation of $10 per person or $25 for families of three or more is requested.
