    Youth Refuge meeting Tuesday

    CANNELTON – Youth Refuge will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at the Cotton Mill Apartments in Cannelton.

  • Firearms courses July 13, Aug. 10

    TELL CITY – C&J Firearm Academy will host a National Rifle Association basic pistol course at 8 a.m. July 13 and Aug. 10 and will last approximately eight hours, which will include classroom and range time.
    The course will be taught by a local NRA-certified instructor and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. The course will emphasize the safe and proper use of pistols.

  • Entries for annual Schweizer Fest pageant available until Tuesday

    TELL CITY – Applicants are sought for the 2013 Schweizer Fest page-ant. Applications are ready and available at Cinderella’s, 922 Main St. Tell City.
    Age groups this year are as follows: Mini Prin-cess, girls 2 to 3 years of age; Little Princess, 4 to 5 years of age Miss Prin-cess, girls 6 to 8 years of age; Mini Prince, boys 2 to 3 years of age; Little Mister, boys 4 to 5 years of age; Mister Prince, 6 to 8 years of age; Junior Miss, girls 9 to 12 years of age; Teen Miss, girls 13 to 16 years of age; Miss Queen, girls 17 to 22 years of age.

  • PCMH to offer various CPR classes to public

    TELL CITY – CPR classes for Heartsaver AED, basic life support for health-care providers, family and friends and first-aid classes will be held at the Perry County EMS - Rescue building, located near Perry County Memorial Hospital.
    The Heartsaver CPR with AED certification class is scheduled for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 18. Class content includes adult, child and infant CPR,  automated external defibrillation and choking rescue skills.  Participants must be able to pass a skills performance evaluation. Class fee is $40.

    Parks and Rec meeting Wednesday
    CANNELTON – The Perry County Parks and Recreation board will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the courthouse annex in Cannelton.

    CHS 1983
    CANNELTON – The Cannelton High School Class of 1983 will hold its 30-year reunion at 4 p.m. Saturday.
    The reunion will be at the Cannelton American Legion, 516 Knight St.

  • March of Dimes baby contest set for July 13

    TELL CITY – The annual March of Dimes baby contest held during the Perry County 4-H Fair will begin at 10 a.m. July 13 at the fairgrounds in Tell City.

  • Heartland Half Marathon, 5K Labor Day weekend

    JASPER – The half marathon and 5K run-walk event is slated for Sept. 1 – during the middle of Labor Day weekend – in Dubois County, just west of the Hoosier National Forest in southwestern Indiana.

  • Reunionis, June 27 issue

    Wheeler family
    BRISTOW – The Wheeler family reunion will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Isidore hall in Bristow.
    A carry-in meal will be at noon. Tea, lemonade, cups, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided.
    Games, activities, prizes and more will be offered through the day.
