    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central football families will meet at 6 p.m. today in the high-school study-hall room.

  • Encaustic printing workshop July 27

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch will present a workshop on encaustic printing July 27 from 2 to 3 p.m.
    Local amateur artist Laurie Dinkel will lead the workshop. Those attending are asked to take a warming tray, electric griddle or frying pan and mitten potholders if possible. Other necessary supplies will be provided.

  • Reunions, July 15 issue

    OTHS 1946-47
    TELL CITY – The Oil Township High School classes of 1946 and 1947 will have a class reunion July 27 at Bill & Dave’s Smokin’ Pit in Tell City.
    Those attending are asked to arrive early to socialize before a noon luncheon is served. All other classes, families and friends are welcome to attend.

    Swaney
    TROY – The Swaney, Nicholson, Orander and Jordan family reunion will be held at noon Aug. 3 at the Troy Community Building in Troy.

    Yard sale to benefit Autism Speaks
    TELL CITY – A multi-family yard sale will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Indiana Realty, 331 Main St. Tell City, to benefit Autism Speaks.

  • Reunions, July 11 issue

    Swaney
    TROY – The Swaney, Nicholson, Orander and Jordan family reunion will be held at noon Aug. 3 at the Troy Community Building in Troy.
    Meat and drinks will be provided. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish.

    Vanwinkle – Mills family

    ST. MEINRAD – The annual Vanwinkle – Mills family reunion will be July 14 at the St. Meinrad Community Center.
    Dinner will begin at noon CST. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish and auction items.

  • PCMH to offer various CPR classes to public

    TELL CITY – CPR classes for Heartsaver automated external defibrillator, basic life support for health-care providers, family and friends and first-aid classes will be held at the Perry County EMS-Rescue building, located near Perry County Memorial Hospital.
    The Heartsaver CPR with AED certification class is scheduled for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 18. Class content includes adult, child and infant CPR,  automated external defibrillation and choking-rescue skills.  Participants must be able to pass a skills performance evaluation. Class fee is $40.

    The cost of the workshop is $5 per person to cover the cost of supplies.

  • First of two firearms courses Saturday

    TELL CITY – C&J Firearm Academy will host a National Rifle Association basic pistol course at 8 a.m. Saturday and Aug. 10 that will last approximately eight hours, and will include classroom and range time.
    The course will be taught by a local NRA-certified instructor and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. The course will emphasize the safe and proper use of pistols.

  • Perry Central band meeting, picnic July 31

    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central Marching Band will host a mandatory meeting and picnic July 31.
    The picnic will immediately follow Band Camp at 4 p.m. that day. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.  Those attending may take a side dish or snacks. The mandatory meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. The group will discuss band camp fees and concessions, meet the band director, learn about the boosters and discuss the calendar for the year.  
    There will be a drawing for prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prize.

  • Rome Masons dinner, awards Saturday

    ROME – Rome Lodge 133 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a quarterly supper at 7 p.m. Saturday.
    This is a carry-in meal and all Masons, family and friends are invited.
    Following the meal, there will be a presentation of the Lewis Awards. This is a special award given by the Yorkrite to fathers and sons that are Masons in the same jurisdiction.  
    Rome Lodge 133 has a good percentage of members as fathers and sons, organizers said, and this should be a great evening of fellowship.
