  • Horseman’s club fun horse show Aug. 24

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a Fun Horse Show and benefit at 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at 9455 Summer Road, north of Tell City. Those attending are asked to follow signs approximately five miles north on Indiana 37.
    The event will include games for all ages. There will also be some bleacher seating available but lawn chairs are recommended.

  • Reunions, Aug. 8 issue

    Minto’s Market employees
    TELL CITY – A Minto’s Market reunion is planned for Friday. All former employees and owners are welcome to attend.
    The reunion will be held at Julie’s Café in Tell City from 4 to 7 p.m.

    Historical Society’s new DVD available

  • Annual Friends of Library book sale Saturday

    TELL CITY – Friends of the Perry County Public Library will hold their annual book sale at the Tell City branch, 2328 Tell St., from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. A special members-only pre-sale will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday. Membership dues are $5 per year; forms are available at the library and will be accepted at the pre-sale.

  • Sanders book signing during Schweizer Fest

    TELL CITY – Brett Alan Sanders, a retired Perry Central school teacher, writer and literary translator, will present at the Schweizer Fest today through Saturday. He will have copies of his books available for purchase and signing.
    His short historical novel for young adults, “A Bride Called Freedom,” is available for $15 in a bilingual edition; the first half of the book is written in English, the second half is translated into Spanish.

  • Reunions, Aug. 5

    TCHS 1983
    TELL CITY – With regret, the Tell City High School Class of 1983 is cancelling the 30th class reunion due to not receiving enough responses.
    All classmates who sent in checks or money will get their money returned in the mail.
    Classmates are asked to mark their calendars for the 35th class reunion to be held at the Moose Lodge during Schweizer Fest 2018.
    The class motto is “The class of 1983 will not follow where the path may lead, but will go where there is no path and leave a trail.”

  • Historical Society new DVD available

    TELL CITY – During Schweizer Fest, a new DVD will be shown at the Historical Society Museum at 10th and Franklin streets.
    Showings will be at 2 and 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. DVDs will be available for purchase.

  • Girl Scouts to host pool party

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Girl Scouts are getting troops ready to start a new year. If you are in kindergarten through 12th grade and would like to be in the Girl Scouts, you are invited to attend a Scouts pool party.
    Parents can fill out a registration form and girls will be placed into a troop during the party. Financial assistance is available.
    The party will be held at the Hoosier Heights Country Club form 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 8.

  • ‘Animals Underground’ event for children at Tell City library Aug. 7

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library would like to invite everyone to attend “Animals Underground” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tell City branch, presented by Animal Tales LLC.
    The theme for summer reading has been “Dig into Reading” for younger children and “Beneath the Surface” for preteens and teens. “Animals Underground” will provide a fun, educational, interactive and safe learning experience that will feature live animals from across the globe, organizers said.
