  • ‘Animals Underground’ event for children at Tell City library Aug. 7

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library would like to invite everyone to attend “Animals Underground” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tell City branch, presented by Animal Tales LLC.
    The theme for summer reading has been “Dig into Reading” for younger children and “Beneath the Surface” for preteens and teens. “Animals Underground” will provide a fun, educational, interactive and safe learning experience that will feature live animals from across the globe, organizers said.

  • Reunions, Aug. 1

    TCHS 1983
    TELL CITY – With regret, the Tell City High School Class of 1983 is cancelling the 30th class reunion due to not receiving enough responses.
    All classmates who sent in checks or money will get their money returned in the mail.
    Classmates are asked to mark their calendars for the 35th class reunion to be held at the Moose Lodge during Schweizer Fest 2018.
    The class motto is “The class of 1983 will not follow where the path may lead, but will go where there is no path and leave a trail.”

  • New Directions to host open house during Schweizer Fest

    TELL CITY – New Directions Health and Fitness Club, 632 Main St. in Tell City, will host an open house during Schweizer Fest week.
    The public is invited to stop by Aug. 6 through Aug. 9.
    Tours of the facility will be offered as well as the opportunity to attend one class or one workout at no charge. Staff will be available to offer demonstrations and answer questions.
    Those attending can sign up for free prizes and stick around Friday to watch an event from the Perry County Fitness Games, hosted by New Directions.

    JFK Pool changes its hours
    TELL CITY – JFK Pool in Tell City will change its hours of operation for its final week of summer.
    Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Aug. 10.

  • Firearms course Aug. 10

    TELL CITY – C&J Firearm Academy will host a National Rifle Association basic pistol course at 8 a.m. Aug. 10 that will last approximately eight hours, and will include classroom and range time.
    The course will be taught by a local NRA-certified instructor and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. The course will emphasize the safe and proper use of pistols.
    Participants will learn about firearm safety, parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, care and cleaning, storage opt-ions, selection and more.

    Silent auction at ONB
    TELL CITY – Old National Bank in Tell City will hold a silent auction to raise funds for the March of Dimes starting today and running until Aug. 9.

  • Zoar Mosquito Fest set for Aug. 2-3

    ZOAR – The 41st annual Zoar Mosquito Fest will be Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 at the Zoar Picnic Grounds. The opening ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. and be followed by the Southern Indiana Wiffleball Tourney. The event is a double-elimination tourney with each team playing at least one game Aug. 2.   • Annual Tri Kappa Kaffee Klatch set for Aug. 7 at EUCC in Tell City

    TELL CITY – Epsilon Omega Chapter of Tri Kappa would like to invite the community to its traditional Kaffee Klatch breakfast Aug. 7 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, 10th and Jefferson streets in Tell City.
    Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

  • Birthday party for Smokey Bear set for Aug. 3 at Patoka Lake

    BIRDSEYE – The public is invited to join the staff of Patoka Lake as they celebrate Smokey Bear’s 68th birthday Aug. 3, at the Patoka Lake Visitor Center from 10 a.m. to noon.
    Take family and friends and enjoy activities and fun for all ages. Parents can take a camera and take pictures with Smokey Bear.
    The Orange County Southeast Township Volunteer Fire Department will give a special demonstration and presentation that is sure to inform and entertain all ages.
