  • Perry Central band meeting, picnic July 31

    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central Marching Band will host a mandatory meeting and picnic Wednesday.
    The picnic will immediately follow band camp at 4 p.m. that day. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided.  Those attending may take a side dish or snacks. The mandatory meeting will start at 4:30 p.m.
    The group will discuss band camp fees and concessions, meet the band director, learn about the boosters and discuss the calendar for the year.  
    There will be a drawing for prizes. Winners must be present to claim their prize.

  • Open house for Rose Stiles Saturday

    TELL CITY – An open house to celebrate the 90th birthday of Rose Stiles will be from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Saturday at the Perry County Coon Club.
    Everyone is invited to attend and help her celebrate with family and friends. She has requested no gifts.

  • Benefit for Erin Owen Friday

    TELL CITY – A benefit for cancer patient Erin Owen will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Tell City Moose Lodge.
    Live music will be provided by Jeremy Luecke and Matt Schultz. T-shirts and bracelets will be sold. The event will include a live auction of items in-cluding two rounds of golf with a cart at Ben Hawes Golf Course, four rounds of golf at the Summit, two $25 gift cards to Golf Plus, several gift baskets and much more. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.

  • New Directions to host fitness games during Schweizer Fest

    TELL CITY – New Directions Health and Fitness Club will host a Perry County fitness games event Aug. 9 through Aug. 11.
    Participants will compete in six different events over three days to test their overall fitness. Anyone can enter and the top three men and women will be selected after the games. Those entering are asked to be familiar with main lifts, such as bench, squat, deadlift and clean lifts.

  • Reunions, July 22 issue

    Patmore family
    SANTA CLAUS – The Patmore family reunion will be held Aug. 3 at Sam and Amy Busler’s home, 398 S. Start Drive in Santa Claus.
    Those from Perry, Spencer and Dubois County families and those who have moved away over the years are encouraged to attend. Dinner will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. Drinks and table service will be provided.
    Those attending are asked to take a covered dish, swimwear, lawn chairs, old photos and stories.

  • Oaks Senior Center plans Savannah trip

    PERRY COUNTY – The Oaks Center Center in Cannelton is planning a trip to Savannah, Ga., Jekyll Island and Beaufort, S.C., in November.
    Cost for the seven-day-six-night trip is $539 per person for double occupancy. The group will be traveling from Nov. 10 to Nov. 16. Cost includes motorcoach transportation, lodging including four nights in Savannah, 10 meals, various different tours on Jekyll Island, in Savannah and in Beaufort and more.

  • Kaffee Klatch Aug. 7

    TELL CITY – Epsilon Omega Chapter of Tri Kappa would like to invite the community to its traditional Kaffee Klatch breakfast Aug. 7 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, 10th and Jefferson streets in Tell City.
    Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall.
    Tickets are $6.50 in advance or $7 at the door. Children 6 to 12 years of age are $3, while children 5 and under eat for free.
    Tickets are available through Tri Kappa members and at the Old National Bank on Main Street, the German American or any Tri Kappa member.

  • Horseman’s club fun horseshow Aug. 24

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a Fun Horse Show and benefit at 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at 9455 Summer Road, north of Tell City. Those attending are asked to follow signs approximately five miles north on Indiana 37.
    The event will include games for all ages. There will also be some bleacher seating available but lawn chairs are recommended.

  • ‘Animals Underground’ event for children at Tell City library Aug. 7

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library would like to invite everyone to attend “Animals Underground” at 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Tell City branch, presented by Animal Tales LLC.
    The theme for summer reading has been “Dig into Reading” for younger children and “Beneath the Surface” for preteens and teens. “Animals Underground” will provide a fun, educational, interactive and safe learning experience that will feature live animals from across the globe, organizers said.
