  • Kayaking for beginners Saturday

    BIRDSEYE – Have you ever wished you knew how to kayak or wanted to try it out before buying your own equipment?
    Join the Patoka Lake Interpretive Naturalist at the beach for a beginners kayaking lesson at 2 p.m. EDT April 20.
    During this short lesson, participants will get to try their hands at a few different kayaks and paddles. Participants will learn what gear is needed and the best places to paddle on Patoka.
    All equipment including life jackets will be provided, just take friends and family.

    TELL CITY – Tell City High School Class of 1963 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. April 25 at the Hoosier Heights Country Club. Class members and spouses are encouraged to attend.  

    Tell City National, TCB Bank reunion April 23 at Ponderosa
    PERRY COUNTY – Former employees of Tell City National Bank or TCB Bank will meet at Ponderosa Steak House in Tell City at 6 p.m. April 23. Anyone who worked at TCNB or TCB is invited, along with spouses.

    Karaoke at St. Meinrad American Legion

     ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion will hold karaoke from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at the post home.

  • We the Youth food drive Sunday in Perry County

    TELL CITY – We the Youth of Perry County will sponsor a food drive from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at several locations throughout Perry County.
    Items may be dropped off at Nobels IGA, Cash Savers, Save-a-lot, Wal-Mart and Tom’s Circle S. Cash donations will also be accepted.
    All donations will be given to the Perry County Food Coalition.

  • Reunions, April 11

    Tell City National, TCB Bank
    PERRY COUNTY – Former employees of Tell City National Bank or TCB Bank will meet at Ponderosa Steak House in Tell City at 6 p.m. April 23. Anyone who worked at TCNB or TCB is invited, along with spouses.
    Everyone will be responsible for their own dinner and drinks. Those attending are invited to take along photos of their children, grandchildren and other important milestones in life.

  • Rome to once again host flea markets

    ROME – The Rome Community Center will begin to host its second annual flea markets and trade days through summer and fall months this year. The first market will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Others will be held the second Saturday of the month until September.
    Everyone is welcome and vendors may include new and used items, crafters, antiques, artists and produce. No food vendors will be accepted. Space is available for $10.

    Hike meeting location changed
    PERRY COUNTY – Those wishing to participate in the Perry County Parks and Recreation hike scheduled for Saturday will gather at a new place.
    Hikers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Indiana 70 and Indiana 37.

    Humane Society to meet Tuesday

    TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will conduct its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth Third Bank. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

  • Lincoln Day dinner set for April 27

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Republican Lincoln Day dinner has been set for April 27 at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds in Tell City. Congressman Larry Bucshon will be the guest speaker.
    Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:30. Meal tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children 10 years of age and younger.
    Rep. Lloyd Arnold and other elected officials will be also be present at the dinner. Tickets will be available at the door.
