  • PCMH to hold car seat safety clinic Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will host a free car seat safety clinic Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the hospital parking lot.

    There will be certified technicians on-site to check car seats and demonstrate proper installation. All ages of car seats from newborn to youth booster will be covered.

    There will also be candy apples, a craft station, give-aways and labor and delivery suite tours.

    Moose Lodge to serve dinners Friday

     

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Moose Lodge 1424 will serve barbecue and pork chop dinners Friday, Sept. 30, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The cost will be $8 per plate.

    The dinners will include a half chicken or 1 ¼ inch pork chop with creek-fried potatoes and green beans.

  • Pink Floyd tribute show to close amphitheatre season

    LINCOLN CITY – If you’ve wanted to attend a performance at the Lincoln Amphitheatre during this 2016 season –likely the most diverse in the venue’s 29-year history, your last chance to do so will be Saturday, Oct. 1.

    Pink Droyd will serve as the season’s finale and will perform a full laser light show and musical tribute to the band Pink Floyd.

    Doors open at 4:30 p.m. central with an opening set by local solo-acoustic singer songwriter Steven Wagler at 6 p.m. and Pink Droyd will take the stage at approximately 7 p.m. 

  • Cannelton’s 71st Fall Festival Oct. 26

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization will sponsor its 71st Annual Cannelton Fall Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Cannelton Community Center.

    Queen candidates for this year’s festival are kindergartener Suri Knapp, first-grader Arianna Hulse, second-grader Nichole Sipes, third-grader Brenna Smith, fourth-grader Makayla Hulse and fifth-grader London Malone.

  • Ivy Tech offering Lunch & Learn event

    TELL CITY – For those who feel frustrated about owning a high quality digital camera, but not seeing high quality results, Ivy Tech’s Tell City campus is planning a “Lunch and Learn” session from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Attendees should plan to bring their lunch and enjoy a free informational hour with an experienced and professional photographer, who can help those attending to become familiar with all of the buttons, dials, and menus on their camera.

  • Lincoln Colloquium coming to Spencer County Oct. 7-8

    LINCOLN CITY – The University of Southern Indiana’s Historic Southern Indiana, in collaboration with Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, will present a two-day Lincoln Colloquium Oct. 7-8 in Lincoln City. The theme of this year’s seminar is “Lincoln in Public Memory.”

  • St. Marks marksmen take aim

    The St. Marks Catholic Church shooting match and picnic will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church. The ham shoot begins at 10:30 a.m. with a closed match at 2:30 p.m. First choice will be a $600 beef box. There will be chili, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bratwurst, homemade pies, games for children and adults, bingo, quilts and country-store items. A main raffle will offer more than $6,000 in prizes. The Rev. Dennis Duvelius and parishioners extend an invitation to everyone to attend.

  • City Hall Park concert Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – Meal tickets for a farm-to-table dinner that will seat guests on the middle of Tell City’s Main Street are sold out but there will still be plenty to see and do on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 24, including a concert by a leading regional Christian musical group.

  • Democrats schedule Oct. 1 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Democratic Central Committee will host its Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Tell City Knights of Columbus. The event will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7.

    Christina Hale, Democrat candidate for lieutenant governor, will be the keynote speaker. Other speakers will be Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz, Lorenzo Arredondo, candidate for state attorney general, Larry Kleeman, candidate for state representative, District 74 and John Zody, chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party.

    BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Association will hold its next meeting September 22, at 7 p.m. at the Branchville Clubhouse.

     

    VFW serving breakfast Sept. 24

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the post home.

    Scrambled eggs will be served or diners can get eggs made to order.
