  • Tobinsport cemetery cleanup

    TOBINSPORT – Simon and Lamb Cemeteries in Tobinsport are requesting that flowers and other decorations on graves that are not attached to grave stones should be removed for the mowing season. These items should be removed by April 1. Items not removed by April 1 will be taken up and disposed of. Shepherd hooks may remain as long as they are next to a stone.

  • German Ridge cemetery 2017 report

    ORIOLE – The German Ridge cemetery report for 2017:

    Contributions received during 2017 were from Robert Findley, $25; Joyce and Michael Tooke, $100; and Roberta Spillman, $100 for Findley family. Total donations, $225.

    Beginning balance on Jan. 1, 2017, was $2,798.15.

    Income reported was $94.09 for interest accrued on certificate of deposits and $225 in donations. Total income was $319.09.

    Expenses for mowing were $1,260.

  • Education Pays accepting applications for fall loan awards

    TELL CITY – The board of directors of Education Pays Student Loan Fund of Tell City/Perry County has announced it is accepting applications for interest-free loans to be awarded to students pursuing a post-high school education for the fall 2018 semester. Applications are available at the offices of the guidance counselors at Cannelton, Perry Central, and Tell City high schools. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1. 

  • Will Read and Sing returning April 15

    Will Read and Sing For Food is returning to Tell City to perform a public benefit show for Tell City Catholic Charities on Sunday, April 15, 6:30 p.m. on the Fellowship Hall stage at Evangelical United Church of Christ at 802 10th St. .

    To date, Jasper-based WRASFF has raised over $138,000 for over 40 charities and causes in southern Indiana, including $4,780 for Tell City Catholic Charities and $1,264 for United Way of Perry County. This will be their 134th show since 2011.

    Derby Community meeting March 31


    DERBY – A Derby community membership meeting will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 6:30 pm at the Derby Community Center. Free hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and water will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.

    Yappy Hour dog show Friday


    TELL CITY–Oakwood Health Campus will be hosting a Yappy Hour and Dog Show event March 23 at 3 p.m. Refreshments provided. Trophies will be awarded for the dog with the best trick, best dressed and resident choice. Entrants are asked to take a pet food item for the Perry County Humane Society.

    United Way annual meeting tonight


    DERBY– The United Way of Perry County will hold is annual meeting and campaign celebration on Thursday, March 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Derby Community Center.

  • Tell City D of I to host paint party April 7

    TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella will host a paint party fundraiser on Saturday, April 7, from 6 to 8 a.m. in St. Paul’s Parish Hall. Contact Betty Case at the Tell City Depot at (812) 547-7933 to sign-up and choose a design to paint. Cost is $30.

    The registration deadline is April 2 and the cost is $30. Those taking part are invited to take their own non-alcoholic drinks and snacks to share. The public is invited to come and join the fun.
