    Historical Society to meet today


    TELL CITY — The monthly meeting of the Tell City Historical Society will begin at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 28, at the Tell City Historical Society Museum. There will be a special program titled “Veterans Stories of World War II” as told by Bill Simpson.

    Everyone is invited to attend. The museum is located at the corner of Franklin and Ninth streets.

  • Theme is ‘not so scary’ at Halloween Weekends

    SANTA CLAUS – The four holiday-themed sections at Holiday World will present a single theme Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend, as the park premieres this year’s Happy Halloween Weekends Sept. 26.

  • Rome plans Oct. 4 Heritage Tour events

    ROME – The community of Rome will host activities the first weekend of the Hoosier Heritage Fall tour Sunday, Oct. 4.

    Fried chicken dinners with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, slaw and homemade dessert will served in the courthouse. Serving will begin at 11 a.m.

    An all-day concession stand will sell hamburgers, cheeseburgers, barbecue and soft drinks.

    There will be live music by the House Kat Trio with Rita, Ray and Teddy.

    VFW breakfast buffet Saturday


    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the post home.

    Eggs will be made to order. Cost of $6 includes tax and the public is invited.


    Tractor club to meet today


    BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Branchville Conservation clubhouse.

  • First annual trivia night fundraiser Oct. 3 to support community action center

    DALE – Hosting it’s first annual trivia night fund-raiser, the North Spencer Community Action Center invites the community to join in the fun and festivities on Saturday, Oct. 3.

    The doors of St. Joseph Parish Center will open at 6:30 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m.

    Put together a team of friends, family or coworkers to fill a table of eight for an exciting evening of great fun, guided by a local celebrity emcee.

    ST. MEINRAD – Inkspot Productions, LLC has announced the complete schedule for the 5th annual St. Meinrad ROCKS! Fest. The two-day benefit event will be held at the St. Meinrad Park on Sept. 25 and 26.

    Moose lodge to host golf outing Sept. 26


    TELL CITY – The Tell City Moose Lodge 1424 will host a golf outing Saturday, Sept. 26, at Hoosier Heights Country Club. Tee off will be at 8 a.m. CDT. A meal will be provided and prizes will be awarded afterward at the Moose. Cost is $45 per player.

    HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. – It is that time of the year again. The Hancock County Airport Open House will take place Saturday, Sept. 26, starting at 9 a.m.

    Every year the free plane rides from the Young Eagles program is a hit with the youngsters. The Young Eagles offers free plane rides to youngsters ages 8 to 17. Parents, take your kids and cameras and come on out for some great family fun.
