  • Annual St. Meinrad Rocks fest in September to benefit foundation fund

    ST. MEINRAD – The third annual St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will be held Sept. 27 and 28 and will be an outdoor event this year.

  • Autumn story times begin Sept. 9

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Public Library officials announced registration is now open for the autumn story-time session. Autumn story times will run from Sept. 9 through Oct. 17 with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations.
    Parents and guardians may register for story time by calling the Tell City location at 547-2661. Story times are as follows:

  • Strong Bodies, Safe Families 5K Oct. 5

    MILLTOWN – Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition and Crawford County’s Prevent Child Abuse Chapter announce their collaboration in hosting the area’s first “Strong Bodies, Safe Families” 5K walk-run starting at the Milltown Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5.
    This event is scheduled to take place during Domestic Violence Prevention Month and proceeds will benefit

    Car show, carnival at Oakwood Friday
    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City will host a car show and carnival community event from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

  • Noted bowhunter, author to speak at library Saturday

    TELL CITY – Award-winning outdoor writer M.R. James, a member of the national Archery Hall of Fame and editor and founder of BowHunter Magazine, will be at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
    He will share personal hunting and writing stories, as well as offer advice, answer questions and sign copies of his latest book, “Hunting the Dream,” a memoir which takes readers on what he says is an unforgettable storybook journey from his small-town roots to his current role as national spokesman for archers.

  • Cub Scouts sign up Wednesday at WTE

    TELL CITY – Tell City Cub Scout Pack 192 will have sign ups for first- through fifth-grade boys at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the William Tell Elementary School café.

  • Benefit auction, set for dance Sept. 14

    TELL CITY – The friends and family of Larry Taylor will host a benefit auction and dance to help raise funds for medical bills and expenses.
    The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Tell City American Legion Post on Indiana 66.
    Admission will be $15 per person or $25 per couple.
    There will be live music by “Good Ole Boys,” food and a cash bar.
    Cash donations may be made at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City to the “Benefit of Larry Taylor” account.
    Taylor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

    TELL CITY – The Twilight Towers Library is looking for some more large-print books, paperback or hardback, to add to the collection.

  • Walking tour, novice hunt Oct. 12 in Cannelton

    CANNELTON – Tell City Ghost Hunters will present the second annual historic haunted walking tour and novice hunt Oct. 12 during the Cannelton Heritage Festival.
    The group will offer two walking tours from 6 to 8 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. with tickets available for $10 per person or $15 per couple.
