  • Horseman’s club fun horse show Aug. 24

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a Fun Horse Show and benefit at 5 p.m. Aug. 24 at 9455 Summer Road, north of Tell City. Those attending are asked to follow signs approximately five miles north on Indiana 37.
    The event will include games for all ages. There will also be some bleacher seating available but lawn chairs are recommended.

  • Reunions, Aug. 15 issue

    Allen family
    BIRDSEYE – The Allen family reunion will be held Sunday at the Birdseye Conservation Club.  
    A carry-in meal will begin at noon. Those wishing to attend are asked to attend early to catch up with family and friends.

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry Central Class of 2008 will hold its 5-year class reunion from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Tipsaw Lake Beach shelter house.

  • Annual St. Meinrad Rocks fest in September to benefit foundation fund

    ST. MEINRAD – The third annual St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will be held Sept. 27 and 28 and will be an outdoor event this year.

  • Benefit auction, dance Sept. 14

    TELL CITY – The friends and family of Larry Taylor will host a benefit auction and dance to help raise funds for medical bills and expenses.
    The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Tell City American Legion Post on Indiana 66 in Tell City. Admission will be $15 per person or $25 per couple.
    There will be live music by “Good Ole Boys,” food and a cash bar.
    Cash donations may be made at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City to the “Benefit of Larry Taylor” account.

    Novice ghost hunt in Cannelton
    CANNELTON – The Tell City Ghost Hunters will host a novice hunt at the Perry County Museum in Cannelton from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday.

  • Walking tour, novice hunt Oct. 12 in Cannelton

    CANNELTON – Tell City Ghost Hunters will present the second annual historic haunted walking tour and novice hunt Oct. 12 during the Cannelton Heritage Festival.
    The group will offer two walking tours from 6 to 8 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. with tickets available for $10 per person or $15 per couple.

  • Noted bowhunter, author to speak at library Aug. 24

    TELL CITY – Award-winning outdoor writer M.R. James, a member of the national Archery Hall of Fame and editor and founder of BowHunter Magazine, will be at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 24.
    He will share personal hunting and writing stories, as well as offer advice, answer questions and sign copies of his latest book, “Hunting the Dream,” a memoir which takes readers on what he says is an unforgettable storybook journey from his small-town roots to his current role as national spokesman for archers.

  • John Williams Memorial Ride set for Sept. 7

    TELL CITY – The fifth annual Big John Williams Memorial Ride will be held Sept. 7 beginning at Braunie’s in Tell City. Registration will be from 9 until 11 a.m. All bikes will be out at 11 with all bikes in at 4:30 p.m. All vehicles are welcome to participate.
    All proceeds go to the John Williams Memorial Scholarship, given annually to a Perry County high-school senior. For more information, contact Braunie’s at 547-8803.
     

  • Autumn story times begin Sept. 9 at library

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Public Library announces registration is now open for the autumn story time session.
    Autumn story times will run from Sept. 9 through Oct. 17 with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations. Parents and guardians may register for story time by calling the Tell City location at 547-2661.
    Story times are as follows:
    9:30 to 10 a.m. Mondays in Tell City for children ages birth through 2 years old
    1 to 1:30 p.m. Mondays in Tell City for children ages birth through 2 years old
