  • Kayaking tour at Patoka Lake July 14

    BIRDSEYE – The public is invited to take kayaks or canoes and join the Patoka Lake naturalists for a tour on the late at 9:30 a.m. July 14. The group will meet at Wall’s Lake Boat Ramp off Indiana 145.
    The group will look for beaver, osprey, bald eagles and other wildlife along the way. Participants will discover a bit of Patoka’s past as they make their way to the “lake within a lake.” They will also travel over the remnants of Wall’s Lake dam as the group will paddle the waters of Patoka River.

  • Perry County bicentennial planning

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County will celebrate its 200th anniversary Nov. 1, 2014, as one of the earliest counties in Indiana. The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a meeting to begin planning for Bicentennial activities at 6 p.m. July 16. The meeting will take place in the Chamber of Commerce office, 601 Main Street in Tell City.

  • Firearms course Saturday

    TELL CITY – C&J Fire-arm Academy will host an National Rifle Association basic pistol course at 8 a.m. Saturday and will last approximately eight hours, which will include classroom and range time.
    The course will be taught by a local NRA-certified instructor and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. The course will emphasize the safe and proper use of pistols.

    Wheeler family
    BRISTOW – The Wheeler family reunion will be at 11 a.m. June 29 at St. Isidore hall in Bristow.
    A carry-in meal will be at noon. Tea, lemonade, cups, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided.
    Games, activities, prizes and more will be offered through the day.  For more information, call Marta Heeke at 547-6191.

    PERRY COUNTY – The Rickenbaugh family reunion is set for June 30 at the Rickenbaugh House at Seline Lake in Perry County.

  • TC’s Music in the Park, movie night Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association will host Music in the Park Saturday. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall Park in Tell City. The band TunnelVision will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. and the movie will start in City Hall Park at dusk.

    TunnelVision is a contemporary Christian praise band from Owensboro, Ky.

    TELL CITY – In honor of Senior Corps Week, Lincoln Hills Development Corp.’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will host its annual ice cream social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 24 at Evangelical United Church of Christ, 802 10th St., Tell City.
    The event will feature food, fun, bingo and prizes, organizers said.
    All RSVP volunteers and volunteer station representatives are invited to attend, as well as anyone 55 years and older who would like to learn more about RSVP.
