  • Dawg Days Sept. 7 at local dog park

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch will host Dawg Days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Tell City Dog Park, Tell and 16th streets.
    The event will be presented to the public by All American Dawgs of Newburgh.
    Admission to the event is free and those attending will see agility demonstrations showcasing herding dogs. There will be bleacher seating available, but the public is invited to take lawn chairs as well.
    No dogs other than those in the program will be permitted in the park.

  • VFW summer picnic set for Oct. 6

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.
    Dinner will begin around 12:30 p.m.

  • Church sponsoring 5-K, 10-K Sept. 21 to raise mission money

    TELL CITY – Tell City United Methodist Church will host its first Miles 4 Missions 5-kilometer and10-kilometer run-walk Sept. 20 to raise money for the congregations’ ‘mission work.
    The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the back parking lot at the church, located at 702 10th St.
    Cost is $20 and participants can register until 7:45am on race day but must register by Sept. 9 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Participants can pick up shirts from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 or on the morning of the race.

  • Birdseye 5K run-walk Saturday

    BIRDSEYE – The fourth annual five-kilometer run-walk is scheduled for Saturday, beginning with at 8 a.m. EDT.
    The event will begin in back of the Pentecostal church in town, north of the intersection of Indiana 64 and Indiana 145. Parking is available behind the church.
    The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Proceeds will benefit the Birdseye Fire and Park Picnic Fund.

  • Patoka Triathlon to affect traffic at recreation area Saturday

    BIRDSEYE – On Saturday morning, motorists may experience a slight delay if traveling into the Newton Stewart State Recreation Area at Patoka Lake.
    From 8:30 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m., motorists and boat ramp users will share the road with approximately 150 bicyclists participating in the first Patoka Lake Triathlon. During this time, traffic will be halted for brief moments as bicyclers race through the property.  

  • Southern Indiana Horseman’s club fun horse show Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a fun horse show and benefit at 5 p.m. Saturday at 9455 Summer Road, north of Tell City. Those attending are asked to follow signs approximately five miles north on Indiana 37.
    The event will include games for all ages. There will also be some bleacher seating available but lawn chairs are recommended.

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry Central Class of 2008 will hold its 5-year class reunion from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 at Tipsaw Lake Beach shelter house.

    BRANCHVILLE – The second annual Saalman family reunion will be Aug. 31 at the Branchville Conservation Club. A pot-luck dinner will start at 12:30 p.m.

  • Annual St. Meinrad Rocks fest in September to benefit foundation fund

    ST. MEINRAD – The third annual St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will be held Sept. 27 and 28 and will be an outdoor event this year.

  • Autumn story times begin Sept. 9

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Public Library officials announced registration is now open for the autumn story-time session. Autumn story times will run from Sept. 9 through Oct. 17 with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations.
