  • Unforgettable Summer free concert April 20

    TELL CITY – Unforgettable Summer, a band with local ties, will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. April 20 in the Tell City Junior-Senior High School auditorium to thank Perry County residents for their recent support as the band competed in a battle of the bands contest in Evansville.
    Unforgettable Summer is an alternative-rock band from Indianapolis. Their albums and information can be viewed on www.purevolume.com and on the band’s Facebook page. They also have several videos posted at www.youtube.com /usfan5.

  • Animal shelter to offer TNR program in May

    PERRY COUNTY – County residents are asked to help the Perry County Animal Shelter in controlling stray cats in the area with a trap, neuter and release program.
    The program is for stray cats only. Residents who are willing to capture a stray may take it to the shelter at 200 Herzeele St. in Cannelton between 5:30 and 6 a.m. May 21. For $30 per cat, a service from Vanderburgh County will have the cats spayed or neutered. Cats will be ready for pickup at 10 a.m. March 20 and then released where they were caught.

  • ‘Antiques at Your Library’ Saturday in TC

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library will wrap up National Library Week with its third annual Antiques at Your Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tell City branch.
    Several local experts will be on hand to display items in the areas of Tell City furniture, Civil War memorabilia, coins, quilts, old pictures, pottery, bottles, glassware and toys. Some of the collectors scheduled to appear are Chris Cail, Mike and Kathy Finley, Michael Highfil, J.R. Flynn, Mark Laflin and Spud and Helen Kleeman.

  • Benefit set for Saturday

    DOOLITTLE MILLS – A benefit for 19-year-old Christ Schwartz will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel Christian Church, 28110 Okalona Road in English.
    Schwartz is a senior at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School and is the son of David Schwartz and the late Emmie Schwartz. He has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
    The event will kick off with a free-will donation meal. Carry-outs will be available. A hymn sing will follow at 6 p.m.

  • Maurices to host bake sale for Relay for Life

    TELL CITY - Maurcies Relay for Life Team Hopefuls will host a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the store in Tell City. Items will include whole cakes and pies for donations. The community is encouraged to come out and support Relay for Life.

  • Troy sets town spring cleanup for April 19, 20

    TROY – The town of Troy will hold its annual spring cleanup April 19 and 20. This is a chance for all property owners to clean up before letters are sent from the town attorney enforcing an ordinance on property maintenance.
    All items must be at the curbside by 7 a.m. April 19. The regular trash route will be followed. No batteries, items with Freon, tires or regular household trash will be accepted. Paint cans left out must be empty.

    TCHS 1962
    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1962 will celebrate its 50th class reunion Aug. 11 at the American Legion.
    Organizers are still attempting to locate the following classmates: Michael Crook, Janette Davis, Royce Devillez, Ernest Goody, Terrel Laflin, Linda Ludwig, Joetta Reed, Kenny Vincent and Richard Wheatley.
