  • ‘Downward Dog for the Dogs’ yoga class today

    TELL CITY – Jennifer Land, a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, in conjunction with EverBody’s Fun and Fitness Center, will teach yoga at Sunset Park from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
    Everyone is invited to experience what yoga is all about on the riverfront at sunset. Land said the group will be doing basic yoga poses and breathing techniques. Those attending should take a yoga mat as mats will be limited. The class is free but donations will be accepted and given to the Perry County Animal Shelter.
    In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled.

  • Reunions, Sept. 19 issue

    PCHS 1973
    CANNELTON – The Perry Central High School Class of 1973 will hold its 40-year class reunion Saturday, at the Patio in Cannelton.
    Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. No reservations are necessary.
    Classmates, spouses or significant others will be responsible for their own food and drink bills.

  • St. Meinrad Fire Department annual open house set for Oct. 6

    ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Early Days Antique Club, will host its annual open house Oct. 6. The station is located along Indiana 545.
    Chicken and pork-chop dinners will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hamburgers, desserts and ice cream available during the day.
    Raffle chances will be sold during the day with a $1,000 first-place prize.
    A Life Flight helicopter will land next to the firehouse at 11 a.m. with a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Heritage Hills FFA beginning at the same time.

    TELL CITY – Tell City Moose Lodge 1424 will sell barbecue and pork-chop dinners beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the corner of 12th and Tell streets in Tell City.

  • 2013 March of Dimes walk activities set

    TELL CITY – The March of Dimes Perry-Spencer March for Babies walk is scheduled for Sept. 29 in Tell City.
    Registration at Old National Bank opens at 2 p.m. and the ceremony, followed by the walk, begins at 3 p.m.
    This year’s ambassador family is the Badgers. Parents Ty and Leann (Edwards) Badger were blessed with twins, Mila and Emmitt, prematurely born.

  • VFW summer picnic set for Oct. 6

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.

  • GOPerry Club meeting set for Saturday in TC

    PERRY COUNTY – The GOPerry Club will sponsor a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Ponderosa in Tell City. Nancy Rennie, a local employee of the Indiana Department of Child Services, will be the guest speaker.
    Everyone is welcome.

  • Perry-Spencer Republican picnic today

    TROY – The Perry-Spencer Republican annual picnic will be held today at Mulzer Camp just west of Troy.
    Doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6 and special guest speakers at 7 p.m.
    Speakers for the evening will be Secretary of State Connie Lawson and State Auditor Dwayne Sawyer.

    THE WILLIAM TELL Center will have their weekly dance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the center.  3 For All band will perform.

    TWILIGHT TOWERS offers bingo and euchre games in its dining room. Bingo games are held every Wednesday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and card games are held at 6 p.m. Thursdays and the first Monday of each month. The public is invited.

  • Operation Round Up applications due Tuesday

    PERRY COUNTY – Thanks to collective donations, Southern Indiana Power’s Operation Round Up is becoming a very successful way to provide funds to local community programs and projects.      
    The Operation Round Up board of trustees will accept applications until Tuesday.  Disbursement will take place in October.
