    American Legion treasure hunt drawing Friday


    TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 will have a weekly treasure-hunt drawing Friday, July 10.

    The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. and will continue every Friday thereafter until the jackpot is hit.

    Tickets are on sale at the post home. The public is welcome to attend the drawing, purchase tickets and enjoy a favorite beverage and a burger.


    Comedy for Canines set for July 18


  • Spay-neuter clinic planned for July 30

    CANNELTON – The Perry County Animal Shelter’s next spay-neuter clinic will be held Thursday, July 30.

    Cost for low-income Indiana residents for dogs and cats is $20. For all other residents, the low-cost fee is $60 for dogs up to 80 pounds and $85 for dogs weighing more than 80 pounds.

    Cats may be spayed or neutered for $40, plus vaccinated for rabies for $12. Owners wishing to spay or neuter outdoor cats may do so for $40, which includes rabies vaccine, booster vaccine and ear-tipping to designate the cat has been altered.

  • Meet Honest Abe at library July 25

    TELL CITY – As part of the library’s summer “Hero” reading program, Abraham Lincoln presenter David Wolfe will give a special appearance at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Tell City branch.

    Other weekly activities available for various ages include story times, children’s adventure club and tween’s club. Registration for weekly activities is required.

    Days and times are available by calling the library or visiting the website at www.tcpclibrary.org and clicking the ‘children’ tab.

    Hospital auxiliary to hold sale Wednesday


    TELL CITY – The PCMH Auxiliary will sponsor a “gently-used” sale featuring books, jewelry and handbags from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the new hospital location. 

    All paperback books will be 50 cents each and hardcover books will be $1. Jewelry and handbags will be individually priced. The new gift shop will also be open during this time for guests to explore.


    4-H to host food drive today


  • La Leche League to meet at new time, location

    FERDINAND – La Leche League provides mother-to-mother support and networking for breastfeeding, post-breastfeeding and pregnant women.

    La Leche League usually meets on the third Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. EDT at 1085 W. 31st Street in Jasper.

    PCMH Auxiliary to hold sale July 8



    TELL CITY – The PCMH Auxiliary will sponsor a “gently-used” sale featuring books, jewelry and handbags from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the new hospital location.

    Auxiliary members are asked to drop off their items between 3 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the hospital.

  • St. Augustine annual picnic planned for July 26

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine’s Catholic Church will have its annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26.

    Mass will be held at 10 a.m. There will be parking available for guests with disabilities. There will be quilts, a quilt raffle, silent auction, a country store, bingo, ice cream, games for young and old, baked goods and a grand raffle of 72 prizes totaling $3,000. 

    Family-style chicken dinners will be served by a ticket-number system in the air-conditioned dining room.

  • Comedy for Canines returns Saturday, July 18

    Dinner and show will raise money for Hancock County animal shelter

    LEWISPORT – The second-annual Comedy For the Canines will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Lewisport Lions Club Community Center. This benefit for Hancock County Animal Shelter will feature stand-up comedy by Layson Brooks Jr. and Susan Janowick, both of Lewisport, and Sherri Gardner of Fort Worth, Texas.

  • March of Dimes baby contest July 11

    TELL CITY – The March of Dimes baby contest will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds in Tell City. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The contest is open to boys and girls birth to 59 months (those who have not yet reached their fifth birthday). There will be no admission charge at the gate the day of the contest. The theme this year is “Down On The Farm” but children can dress in any style. Trophies will be awarded to the top three contestants in each boy and girl age group.
