  • VFW picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families, are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.

    Mu Gamma to meet today at EUCC

    TELL City – Mu Gamma will meet at 6 p.m. today in the upstairs of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.
    The membership committee will host the meeting.

  • St. Meinrad Fire Department open house Oct. 6

    ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Early Days Antique Club, will host its annual open house Oct. 6. The station is located along Indiana 545.
    Chicken and pork-chop dinners will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hamburgers, desserts and ice cream available during the day.
    Raffle chances will be sold during the day with a $1,000 first-place prize.
    A Life Flight helicopter will land next to the firehouse at 11 a.m. with a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Heritage Hills FFA beginning at the same time.

  • Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour set for Oct. 6 around Rome

    ROME – Several activities will take place in Rome Oct. 6 as the community celebrates the Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour. Events will be centered around the old courthouse, located in the town square.
    Fried-chicken dinners will be served at 11 a.m. and will include mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, slaw and homemade dessert with tea or lemonade. Serving will continue through the day.
    There will also be a country store with cakes, pies, cookies, bread, canned goods and other goodies.

  • Hancock County Airport event Saturday

    HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. – Looking for something new and exciting to do? Do you want to participate in an activity sure to have your kids talking about it for weeks afterward? Then plan to attend Hancock County Airport’s second annual open house Sept. 28.
    The day will kick off at 9 a.m. with pilots competing in a bag-drop contest, followed by a spot-landing contest at 10.  A kids balloon walk is scheduled for 11:30.

  • German American to host Friday customer cookout, shred day

    TELL CITY – German American will host a customer celebration cookout and shred day community event Friday. Employees will grill kebabs from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. for customers at their office located at 645 Main St. in Tell City.
    Piranha Mobile Shredding, an onsite shredding service, will be at the German American office to provide shredding service to safely destroy old files, receipts, canceled checks, tax forms and any other sensitive documents. The public is invited to participate.

    TELL City – Mu Gamma will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the upstairs of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.

    Cannelton Legion Auxiliary meetings

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion Auxiliary meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Legion post home.
    All members are encouraged to attend and anyone interested in joining is welcome.
     

  • Zombie parade at Cannelton Legion

    CANNELTON – Cannelton American Legion Post 142 will sponsor a family-friendly zombie parade from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19.
    Those participating in the parade should gather at Herzelle Street at 4:30 p.m. and picked up at Hargis Hafele Park after the parade.
    Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available for purchase. There will also be a pumpkin patch, a bake sale, games, food, prizes and more.

  • ‘Downward Dog for the Dogs’ yoga class today

    TELL CITY – Jennifer Land, a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, in conjunction with EverBody’s Fun and Fitness Center, will teach yoga at Sunset Park from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
    Everyone is invited to experience what yoga is all about on the riverfront at sunset. Land said the group will be doing basic yoga poses and breathing techniques. Those attending should take a yoga mat as mats will be limited. The class is free but donations will be accepted and given to the Perry County Animal Shelter.
    In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled.

  • Reunions, Sept. 19 issue

    PCHS 1973
    CANNELTON – The Perry Central High School Class of 1973 will hold its 40-year class reunion Saturday, at the Patio in Cannelton.
    Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. No reservations are necessary.
    Classmates, spouses or significant others will be responsible for their own food and drink bills.
