  • Benefit set for Saturday

    DOOLITTLE MILLS – A benefit for 19-year-old Christ Schwartz will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bethel Christian Church, 28110 Okalona Road in English.
    Schwartz is a senior at Crawford County Junior-Senior High School and is the son of David Schwartz and the late Emmie Schwartz. He has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
    The event will kick off with a free-will donation meal. Carry-outs will be available. A hymn sing will follow at 6 p.m.

  • Maurices to host bake sale for Relay for Life

    TELL CITY - Maurcies Relay for Life Team Hopefuls will host a bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the store in Tell City. Items will include whole cakes and pies for donations. The community is encouraged to come out and support Relay for Life.

  • Troy sets town spring cleanup for April 19, 20

    TROY – The town of Troy will hold its annual spring cleanup April 19 and 20. This is a chance for all property owners to clean up before letters are sent from the town attorney enforcing an ordinance on property maintenance.
    All items must be at the curbside by 7 a.m. April 19. The regular trash route will be followed. No batteries, items with Freon, tires or regular household trash will be accepted. Paint cans left out must be empty.

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus will host their annual Lenten fish dinners every Friday through Lent. Serving will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the K of C.

    TCHS 1962
    TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1962 will celebrate its 50th class reunion Aug. 11 at the American Legion.
    Organizers are still attempting to locate the following classmates: Michael Crook, Janette Davis, Royce Devillez, Ernest Goody, Terrel Laflin, Linda Ludwig, Joetta Reed, Kenny Vincent and Richard Wheatley.

  • Volunteers to be honored April 12

    TELL CITY – Golden Living Center – Lincoln Hills, 402 19th St., in Tell City will host a volunteer-recognition event April 12.
    Festivities will kick off at 2 p.m. and refreshments will be served after the program. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

  • PC Relay for Life team fundraisers Saturday, April 14

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Relay For Life will hold two events to raise funds for the annual walk.
    The first will be a chicken-dinner sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the corner of 12th Street and Indiana 37 in Tell City.
    The dinner will include a half chicken, creek fries and green beans. Cost will be $7. Baked items will also be on sale.
    The next event will be a euchre tourney April 14 at the Leopold Conservation Center. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and cost is $5 per person.
    Cash prizes and concessions will be available.

  • Deadline approaching for April craft show

    DALE – The Dale Park and Recreation Department will host its first April Arts and Crafts Show to coincide with its second annual Classics, Coupes, Cruisers and Cycles Show. Both events are fundraisers for the Park and Rec Department. Everyone is welcome and there is no admission charged to the general public.

  • Ferdinand to host town-wide yard sale

    FERDINAND – The Ferdinand Merchants and Chamber of Commerce are organizing the annual Ferdinand town-wide yard sale for March 30 and 31.
    Entire neighborhoods are sifting through drawers, closets, basements and attics to find items to put on sale. Organizers said last year’s yard sales were deemed a huge success with hundreds of happy participants searching out bargains, some of them having driven hundreds of miles to attend.
