  • Dimensional art on display at Archabbey Library

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, is hosting an exhibit of two-dimensional and three-dimensional works by Ferdinand artist Curtis Uebelhor. The show will run from Jan. 10 through Feb. 20.

  • Rome planning meeting this evening

    ROME – The next meeting of the Rome Bicentennial Planning group is this evening, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Rome Courthouse. Everyone is invited.

    The bicentennial group is organizing several activities this year to help celebrate the bicentennial of the courthouse.

    Activities planned include:

    • April 22, car show during Perry County’s Dogwood Tour

    • June 9, beer festival with a Patriot ride, live music and food

    • July 21, kayaking on Celina Lake

  • Knits and Knots resuming Jan. 4

    TELL CITY – Knits and Knots, a group that donates knitted and crocheted hats and scarves, will resume their work next month. The group will meet Thursday, Jan. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tell City.

    The group will welcome anyone who knits or crochets and would like to take part. Those attending should bring their yarning needles but the group will provide the yarn.

  • Meeting to kick off Relay for Life campaign for 2018

    PERRY COUNTY  –  On Jan. 8, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Perry County will officially get underway as event volunteers and participants gather at Moose Lodge in Tell City for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts for the year.

    Residents are invited to attend the kickoff celebration to learn more about the upcoming event, how they can be part of the fight, and how together we can beat our biggest rival.

  • Community Events; Dec. 11

    Cancer support group to host talk Tuesday

     

    TELL CITY – A cancer support group, which meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Education Room A at Perry County Memorial Hospital, will host a session on Dec. 12, titled “End of Life Planning.”

    Attorney Chris Goffinet will speak, followed by a question-and-answer session. All patients, caregivers and survivors are welcome. For more information, contact Glenn Griepenstroh at (812) 547-4164.

    Pearl Harbor Day breakfast this morning

     

    TELL CITY – A Pearl Harbor Day breakfast for veterans will be served from 7 to 10 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 7, at American Legion Post 213. The free event, open to all veterans, is being sponsored by Ladies Auxiliary United 213.

  • Country Club Christmas auction, dinner Wednesday

    TELL CITY – Hoosier Heights Country Club will hold its Christmas auction Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at 3822 Mozart St. The auction will include a variety of hand-crafted home décor and bakery and food items. As part of the evenings activities, an ugly sweater contest will also be held.

    The event is open to the public and will be held in the club banquet room.  

    Dinner will be available in the dining room beginning at 5 p.m.

    TELL CITY –  Live nativity scenes this month will help share the meaning of the Christmas season to the community.

  • Making a joyful noise: A Swing and Jive Christmas

    JASPER – Legendary British swing band, The Jive Aces, will bring their seasonal show to the area for a performance that combines the warmth you’d expect from a holiday program, with the incredible excitement that the group generates. 

    The performance, presented by Jasper Community Arts, will be held at the Jasper Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
