  • St. Boniface fundraiser 5K set for Sunday, May 17

    FULDA – Historic St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda will host a fundraiser 5K run-walk Sunday, May 17. 

    The race will begin at 8 a.m. at the St. Boniface Parish Center. Pre-registration is $15 per person now through May 16 and $20 per person on race day. Registration forms are available online at www.sbfulda.org.

    For more information, call Kasey Wagner at (812) 719-1471. Proceeds will support the ongoing care and preservation of historic St. Boniface Catholic Church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • Hancock County Chamberfest Saturday at Vastwood Park

    HANCOCK COUNTY – The Hancock County Chamber will host its first Chamberfest event Saturday , April 25, at Vastwood Park in Hawesville.

    Several events are planned during the day with food and fun for the entire family.

    At the boat dock, there will be free fishing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the kids.

    There will be free food served at 11 a.m. At noon there will be an Art In The Park exhibit that is free to all painters and craft vendors who would like to provide their own table to display artwork.

    Library open house today

     

    TELL CITY – In celebration of National Library Week, the Perry County Public Library invites the community to visit the Tell City library branch during an open house April 16. 

    Cookies and punch will be available to guests and Friends of the Library members will also host tours of the library.

    The event is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Tell City.

  • Kiwanis BBQ, Coke sales to benefit youth projects

    TELL CITY – Are you planning a barbecue over Memorial Day weekend? If so, the Tell City Kiwanis Club wants to help.

    Tell City Kiwanians are taking orders for their Hog Daddy Days Barbecue and Coca-Cola fundraisers.

    Barbecue prepared by Bill and Dave’s Smokin’ Pit and any of 44 Coke products may be ordered from any Kiwanian or by calling one the following project chairpersons listed below.

    THE ST. MICHAEL ST. ANN SOCIETY will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 20 (today), in Father Marendt Hall. There will be a business meeting, bingo and refreshments. Hostesses will be Rachel Schaefer, Pauline Thorn, Virginia White and Helen Wittman.

     

    THE TELL CITY CLASS OF 1971 will gather at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Fiesta Grande in Tell City. All classmates are welcome to attend.

  • Zumba class at TCHS

    TROY – Monday night’s Zumba class will be held in the Bryan Taylor Sports Arena at the Tell City High School in place of the usual Schergens Center location.

    Class will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 20. It is sponsored by Everbody’s in Tell City and Perry County Wellness

    Cost is $3 per class or $12 for five sessions. Perry County students are admitted to classes for free.

  • Dodgeball tourney planned for April 26

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central After Prom will host its third-annual dodgeball tourney Sunday, April 26, at Perry Central High School.

    This event is open to the general public with the following age categories: fourth through six grade; seventh through ninth grade; and 10th grade to adult.

    The entry fee is $5 per person or $30 per team if registered by 3 p.m. Friday, April 24. After that date, registration will be $8 per person or $48 per team. No registrations will be accepted after noon Sunday, April 26.

  • Domtar’s Relay for Life 5K set for April 25

    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Domtar Paper Co. LLC’s Relay For Life 5K will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 25.

    This 5-kilometer, 3.1 mile, race will start and finish at the Domtar facility at 58 Wescor Road in Hawesville, Ky.

    The route is mostly flat with some hills. Signs will be posted.

    Pre-registration will be $20 through Thursday, April 16, and $25 post–entry and on race day. T-shirts will be given to all registrants. Proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Awards will be given to the top female and male finisher in each category.
