    K of C to sell dinners Sept. 10

     

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus will serve pulled pork dinners or sandwiches Sept. 10, starting 4 p.m. during Dragging Main.

    Also included in the dinner will be creek fries and coleslaw. 

     

    Kidney class Sept. 13

     

    TELL CITY – There will be a Free Kidney Smart Education class on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fifth Third Bank Community Room in Tell City.

  • Perry County 4-H Council annual meeting Sept. 6

    TELL CITY – The Perry County 4-H Council’s annual meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The public is invited to attend to vote for the new members of the 4-H Council. Anyone who would like to serve on the 4-H Council must contact the Purdue Extension-Perry County office by Aug. 31.

    All 4-H volunteers must complete the application process including a background check before they are approved to serve on 4-H Council. Applications and information is available by calling (812) 547-7084.

  • Honest Abe craft beer fest Sept. 10

    LINCOLN CITY – A Sept. 10 craft beer festival will showcase locally made brews and help mark Spencer County’s celebration of Indiana’s bicentennial. There will also be a strong Perry County connection to the day’s activities.

  • Venison workshop Sept. 14

    LEOPOLD – There will be a venison-processing workshop Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Perry Central High School in Leopold.

    Topics will include demonstrations of complete deer processing, including skinning, butchering and packaging techniques, quick and easy venison recipes and food safety and deer meat health.

    Purdue Extension educators will butcher and prepare a deer for participants to taste. This program is for the experience or novices.

  • Feed the rescue horses event coming Sept. 17

    TELL CITY – On Sept. 17, Horse Rescue South will take their rescue horses to Orschlen’s Farm & Home Store in Tell City. The event will start at 10 a.m. There will also be a bouncing house from Toolman Tim, wagon rides provided by Silsa Quick and TAG Balloonist Group’s Ann Lockner and Betty Jones.

  • Fairgrounds ready to host Summerfest Derby

    GRANDVIEW – Motorsports enthusiasts are gearing up for Spencer County Fair’s annual Sizzlin’ Summerfest Derby Saturday, Aug. 27 at the fairgrounds in Grandview. This will be the second show of the season, following the inaugural derby at the Spencer County Fair in June. The season will conclude with a finale at the Oct. 1 Monster Smash Derby during the October Fest celebrations, also at the fairgrounds.

  • Greener Pastures Field Day Tuesday

    DUBOIS COUNTY – A variety of livestock, forage and grazing topics will be presented at the 2016 Greener Pastures Field Day, presented by Purdue Extension and soil and water conservation districts in Dubois, Perry and Spencer Counties. 

    The program will be held Aug. 23, beginning at 5 p.m. CDT at the Marion McMurtrie Trust Farm in Dubois County. The farm is located at 7827 W. Old Road 64, Holland.  

  • SF Quilt Show opens Friday
  • Schweizer Fest Christian Music Show Saturday

    TELL CITY – The annual Schweizer Fest Christian Music Show will be held Saturday in City Hall Park. Times will be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. The event is sponosred by Edward Jones Investments.

     

    3:30 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. – Deer Creek Baptist Church Youth Group – Music and dramatizations

    Swim season winding down at JFK Pool

     

    TELL CITY – Tell City’s JFK Pool will be open Aug. 12-13, from noon to 5 p.m. The last day for the season will be Aug. 13.

     

    Blood drive Aug. 17 at GAB

     

    TELL CITY – There will be a blood drive Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at German American Bank in Tell City.
