    Fundraiser set for Troy resident Richards

     

    TROY – A fundraiser will be held for Phyllis Richards at the Barge Inn Monday, July 27 (today) through Sunday, Aug. 2. During these days, the Barge Inn will donate 10 percent of all purchases to help with Richards’ medical expenses. Free-will donations will also be accepted.

  • TCHS Class of 1960 to meet Friday, Aug. 7

    TELL CITY – Tell City High School’s Class of 1960 will host its 55-year reunion Friday, Aug. 7, at the Hoosier Heights Country Club. The evening will begin with a social hour and cash bar at 4 p.m.  A class photo will be taken at 5 p.m. followed by a meal at 5:30 p.m. A program will follow with music by The Recycled Teenagers.

  • Mariah Hill to hold annual picnic Sunday, Aug. 9

    MARIAH HILL – The annual Mariah Hill Picnic will be held Sunday, Aug. 9 on the Mary Help of Christian’s Church grounds located in Mariah Hill. Beginning at 10 a.m., fried chicken dinners will be served in the dining hall. Mariah Hill Famous Soup will be available by the bowl or in bulk. Attendees are asked to take containers. The grand raffle will be held at 4:30 p.m. with many prizes. More than 25 hand-made quilts, as well as other prizes, will be raffled. Many games, food and refreshments will be available. Free shuttle service will be provided.

  • Knits & Knots to meet Aug. 13

    TELL CITY – Would you like to knit or crochet hats and scarves for homeless shelters, veteran hospitals and Head Start children? Take your needles or crochet hooks and they’ll supply the yarn. The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library will hold a large book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 22 through Friday, July 24. The sale will take place in the bookmobile garage located behind the library.

  • Grape growing program offered July 21

    PERRY COUNTY – The Purdue Master Gardeners will offer a grape growing seminar for its July public program.

    Grape growing will be held at 6 p.m. CDT, Tuesday, July 21, at Winzerwald Winery, 26300 North Indian Lake Rd. in Bristow.

    The program will be presented by Dan Adams, vineyard manager and winemaker for Winzerwald Winery.

    Adams is a graduate of Indiana State University, with Bachelor of Science degrees in both life science and in environmental-health science.

    American Legion treasure hunt drawing Friday

     

    TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 will have a weekly treasure-hunt drawing Friday, July 10.

    The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. and will continue every Friday thereafter until the jackpot is hit.

    Tickets are on sale at the post home. The public is welcome to attend the drawing, purchase tickets and enjoy a favorite beverage and a burger.
