    CHS 1973
    CANNELTON – The 1973 graduating class of Cannelton High School will hold its 40th reunion at 6 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Iron Gate Pizza on Taylor Street in Cannelton.
    Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP so organizers will know how many to expect. Each person will pay for their own food and drinks.
    Be sure to share this information with any other classmate you may be in touch with to help get the word out.

  • VFW picnic Sunday at Mulzer Camp

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Sunday at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families, are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.
    Dinner will begin around 12:30 p.m.

  • Wellness activities scheduled at Tell City High School in October

    TELL CITY – The following wellness activities are available, free of charge, through October from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. on the listed days at Tell City Junior-Senior High School. These programs are available through the Welborn Heros grant. Those attending these activities are asked to sign in at the school office.
    The classes are listed by date, activity and area where the class will be held:
    Today, lap swimming, TCJSHS pool
    Oct. 8, pilates, auxiliary gym
    Oct. 9, Tai Chi-mixed martial arts, Bryan Taylor arena

  • Local libraries to celebrate Teen Read Week

    PERRY COUNTY – In celebration of Teen Read Week Oct. 13 through Oct. 19, the unofficial “Hunger Games Young Adult Survival Skills Program” will be presented at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch.
    From 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15, Creek Stewart, who lives in Anderson and owns Wilderness Survival School, or one of his primitive skills instructors will teach young adults 10 to 18 years of age survival skills based on the strategies from the Hunger Games series.

  • Seventh annual Christmas open house set for Nov. 2 in dining room of Twilight Towers

    TELL CITY – Twilight Towers will host its annual Christmas open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 in the dining room, 1648 10th St., Tell City.
    The event will include lighted glass blocks, walker totes, candle table decorations, lighted canvas art, a Mia Bella candle sale, wood signs and other wooden items, Tupperware, handmade purses, scarves and crochet Christmas towels, Tastefully Simple items, Rada cutlery, Paparazzi jewelry and mag-ic cloths, Christmas wreaths and swags and hair bows.

  • Flu-shot clinic next week

    TELL CITY – The of-fices of Drs. Marcrum, Bailey and Kleeman, 421 Seventh St. in Tell City, announce it will host a flu-shot clinic Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  
    Hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the office closed from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. daily for lunch. Cost is $35.

  • Card-making workshop at library Oct. 14

    TELL CITY – Dana Franzman, an independent consultant for Close To My Heart, will host a card-making workshop at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14.
    The cost for the workshop is $5 per person. All materials for the class will be supplied and those wishing to participate can register by calling the library at 547-2661.

  • Memoir-writing class set for Saturday at library

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library–Tell City branch will host a memoir-writing class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
    The class is designed for anyone who wants to write family stories or memories to preserve and share history. The workshop will be facilitated by local writer Kristine Adams and include writing suggestions to begin the process, resources, tips and more.

  • Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour set for Sunday

    ROME – Several activities will take place in Rome Sunday as the community celebrates the Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour. Events will be centered around the old courthouse, located in the town square.
    Fried-chicken dinners will be served at 11 a.m. and will include mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, slaw and homemade dessert with tea or lemonade. Serving will continue through the day.
    There will also be a country store with cakes, pies, cookies, bread, canned goods and other goodies.
