  • Miles 4 Missions 5k-10k fundraiser set for Sept. 19

    TELL CITY – WOW-SIS, the women’s ministry of the Tell City United Methodist Church, will hold the third annual Miles 4 Missions 5k/10k Run & Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.

    Cost is $20 per person, $10 for children ages 10-15 or $50 for a family of three or more. Registration forms are available at the church office, online at tellcityumc.org,  EverBody’s or New Directions.

    Register by Sept. 4 to be guaranteed a shirt on race day.

    Proceeds will help support the WOW-SIS’s mission projects.

  • Cannelton American Legion to host Oct. 17 poker run

    CANNELTON – Cannelton American Legion Post 142 will host “Poker Run – Cruizin’ For Our Heroes” Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning and ending at the Legion, located at 516 Knight St. in Cannelton.

    This fundraising event will benefit Evansville Veterans Clinic and The Honor Flight program.

    Stops will include St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Santa Claus American Legion Post 242 and Tell City American Legion Post 213. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and cruise out at 11.

    K of C to sponsor comedy show Friday

     

    TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus will host an evening of comedy with The Pop Up Comedy Club Friday, Aug. 28, at the K of C, located at 947 11th St. in Tell City.

    The doors will open at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8. Featured comedians include Keith McGill, as seen on CMT, Laughs on Fox and The Bob and Tom Show; Donna Watts and Tim McClendon.

    Tickets are $12 each and a cash bar will be available upstairs. For more information, call Eric Franzman at (812) 719-0031.

    First Methodist offering fifth quarter Friday for youth

     

    TELL CITY – During every home football game for the Tell City Marksmen and Perry Central Commodores, First United Methodist Church will host a free event for high- school youth shortly after the game is over and lasting until midnight.   • Birdseye Fire and Park Department picnic begins today

    BIRDSEYE – Birdseye Fire and Park Department will hold their 25th-annual picnic this weekend. At 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, there will be euchre tournament at Deb’s Truck Stop.

    On Friday at 6 p.m. there will be a cakewalk, at 6:30 p.m. there will be a corn hole tournament in the park and from 7 to 10 p.m. local band, The Hiding, will perform on the main stage.

  • Derby series continues Saturday

    SPENCER COUNTY – The Sizzlin’ Summerfest, the third demolition derby event out of a points series of four, will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Spencer County fairgrounds.

    Due to the warm weather conditions in August and kids being back in school, the event is held in the evening so the maximum amount of people can enjoy the festivities. A kids power wheel derby will get things started at 6 p.m. followed by the main derby event at 7 p.m.

  • History-filled Rickenbaugh House open Saturday

    The historic Rickenbaugh House in Perry County will be open to the public Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If time allows when visitation is light, educational games and activities on wildlife will be provided for children in addition to tours of the house and information on the Rickenbaugh family,.

    The Rickenbaugh House is located in the Indian-Celina Recreation Area in Perry County.

  • Autumn story times to begin Sept. 21 at library

    TELL CITY  – Perry County Public Library announces registration is now open for the autumn story time session.

    Autumn story times will run Sept. 9 through Oct. 29, with programs at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations. 

    Parents and guardians may register for story time by calling the Tell City location at (812) 547-2661.  Story time programs are as follows:

    • Monday mornings, 10-10:30 a.m. – Tell City (birth through 2 years)

  • 10th Street Fall Fair set for Sept. 19

    TELL CITY – The first ever 10th Street Fall Fair is coming this autumn to Tell City on Saturday, Sept. 19.  Family fun, live music, food booths, shopping, photo booth, and games for all ages will fill the afternoon and evening. 

    This family friendly event will run from 3-7 p.m. CDT and will be hosted by Evangelical United Church of Christ in partnership with Community Christian Church, both located on 10th Street in Tell City.
