  • Wellness activities at Tell City High School

    TELL CITY – The following wellness activities are available free of charge, through October from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. on the listed days at Tell City Junior-Senior High School.
    These programs are available through the Welborn Heros grant. Those attending these activities are asked to sign in at the school office.
    The classes are listed by date, activity and area where the class will be held:
    Tuesday, pilates, auxiliary gym
    Wednesday, step aerobics, Bryan Taylor Arena
    Thursday, lap swimming, TCJSHS pool

  • Annual EUCC fall bazaar set for Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Evangelical United Church of Christ will host its annual fall bazaar Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m.
    A breakfast consisting of homemade biscuits, gravy and fried potatoes with side orders of eggs, sausage, coffee and juice will be available from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
    A country store with baked items, homemade candies and jams will be open. This year will feature some local vendors with floral arrangements, wreaths, Tupperware, handmade purses, scarves and hats, and some woodworking items.
    All are invited and encouraged to attend.

  • Upcoming activities at the Perry County Library-Tell City branch

    Memoir-writing class Saturday
    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library – Tell City branch will host a memoir-writing class at noon Saturday.
    The class is designed for anyone who wants to write family stories or memories to preserve and share history. The workshop will be facilitated by local writer Kristine Adams and include writing suggestions to begin the process, resources, tips and more.

  • St. Mark shooting match Sunday

    ST. MARKS – St. Mark Catholic Church will hold its annual shooting match picnic Sunday on the church grounds.
    The ham shoot will be at 10:30 a.m. with the closed match beginning at 2:30 p.m. First choice will be half a beef.
    Chili, hamburgers, brats, games, bingo, quilts, a raffle and country store will also be available.
    The church is located on Indiana 145, six miles north of Tell City. All are welcome to attend.

  • Patoka cook-off Oct. 19

    BIRDSEYE – The annual Dutch oven cook-off held during Patoka’s Autumn Getaway will be from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 19.
    Registration begins at noon and cooking will begin at 12:30 p.m. Dishes will be judged upon completion.
    All culinary skill levels are welcome to participate. Winners will be announced in the cooking area at 4:30 p.m. in the Patoka Lake modern campgrounds.

  • Reunions, Sept. 26

    Weatherholt
    TOBINSPORT – The Weatherholt family will host a reunion from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Clayton Harris United Methodist Church in Tobinsport.
    A meal will be served at noon. Those attending are asked to take drinks for your family and a covered dish to share.

    CANNELTON – The Poole-Young family will meet for a family reunion at 1 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Bluff Park in Cannelton.

  • Spencer County Business Expo Oct. 3

    SPENCER COUNTY – The 2013 Business Expo will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CDT Oct. 3 in the Santa’s Lodge’s Celebration Room in Santa Claus.
    This inaugural business-to-business event is sponsored by Lincolnland Economic Development Corp. and the Spencer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Organizers describe it as a “unique networking opportunity for local businesses to share information about their products and services.”

  • VFW picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Oct. 6 at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families, are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.

    Mu Gamma to meet today at EUCC

    TELL City – Mu Gamma will meet at 6 p.m. today in the upstairs of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.
    The membership committee will host the meeting.

  • St. Meinrad Fire Department open house Oct. 6

    ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Early Days Antique Club, will host its annual open house Oct. 6. The station is located along Indiana 545.
    Chicken and pork-chop dinners will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hamburgers, desserts and ice cream available during the day.
    Raffle chances will be sold during the day with a $1,000 first-place prize.
    A Life Flight helicopter will land next to the firehouse at 11 a.m. with a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Heritage Hills FFA beginning at the same time.
