  • ECA annual hog roast

    EVANSTON – The Evanston Civic Association will presents its annual hog roast Sept. 15.
    The day’s events will kick off at 9 a.m. with a co-ed softball tourney.
    The beer garden will open at 10 a.m. and customers can get in the food lines at 11 a.m. Schaeffer’s Special Occasions will provide music from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    A kiddies tractor pull will kick off at noon and a bring-your-partner cornhole tourney will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Willy Loper will showcase his chainsaw art from 2 to 6 p.m., followed by a raffle drawing at 6.

    Batson
    ST. MARK – The 86th annual Captain Andrew Peter Batson family reunion will be held Sunday at St. Mark Catholic Church Parish Hall.
    A meal will be served at 12:30 p.m. and everyone attending is asked to take a covered dish and drinks. Paper goods will be supplied. The meal will be followed by a family meeting.
    Family members are also asked to take genealogy information and photos to share.

  • Highway 60 yard sales to be held Oct. 5-7

    KENTUCKY – During the weekend of Oct. 5-7, eight western Kentucky counties will team up to present the seventh annual Highway 60 Yard Sale.
    The sale will stretch for 200 miles along U.S. Highway 60 through Livingston, Crittenden, Union, Henderson, Daviess, Hancock, Breckinridge and Meade counties.
    Cities along the route include Smithland, Salem, Marion, Sturgis, Morganfield, Waverly, Corydon, Henderson, Owensboro, Lewisport, Hawesville, Cloverport, Hardinsburg, Irvington and Muldraugh, as well as dozens of communities in between.

    March of Dimes silent auction at Old National
    TELL CITY – The Old National Bank March of Dimes team will host a silent auction today through Friday to help raise funds for the March of Dimes. The auction will be in the lobby of the main bank during regular banking hours. The auction will end at 4 p.m. Friday.

  • Annual Lincoln Trail quilt show Friday, Saturday at EUCC

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Trail Quilt Guild will host its fourth annual quilt show Friday and Saturday at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

    The public may visit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
    Raffle tickets are available for a splitting-image-pattern quilt, quilted by the Women of the Lutheran Church. The raffle-winner’s name will be drawn after the quilt show Saturday.
