  • Pet Appreciation Week underway; activities planned through Sept. 18

    TELL CITY – If you’re a proud pet owner or would like to be, mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 17 when the Tractor Supply Co. store in Tell City will celebrate your furry friends for Pet Appreciation Week’s Main Event.

    The main event will include pet adoptions with community groups, product samples and giveaways, drawings for gift cards, and other family friendly activities.

    In addition, deals on pet products, from food and treats to toys and crates, will be featured from Sept. 14 to 18.

  • Local wineries offering free tastings during Jazz, Big Band performance at the Lincoln Amphitheatre

    LINCOLN CITY – The seven southern Indiana wineries that comprise the Hoosier Wine Trail (River City, Indian Creek, Scout Mountain, Blue Heron, Monkey Hollow, Pepper’s Ridge and Mystique Winery) will hold a free wine tasting event beginning at 4:30 p.m. and lasting through the performance of Big Band and jazz classics by the Cool City Band, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

    Horsemen Club Euchre tourney to begin Oct. 8

     

    TELL CITY – Southern Indiana Horsemen Club will begin its winter season euchre tourney Oct. 8.

    Doors will open at 6 p.m., with play beginning at 7 p.m. Cost at the door will be $5, with 60 percent payback. Euchres are 25 cents each.

    Food and refreshments will be available in the kitchen, including chili, Merkley hot dogs, desserts, coffee and sodas.

    The club is located at 9470 Summer Road in Tell City.

  • K of C to sell dinners Saturday

    TELL CITY – Knights of Columbus will serve pulled pork dinners or sandwiches Sept. 10, starting 4 p.m. during Dragging Main.

    Also included in the dinner will be creek fries and coleslaw.

  • Ole Pappy’s charity benefit returns Sept. 11

    TELL CITY – Ole Pappy’s second annual charity benefit fundraiser will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, under the covered car lot at 12th and Tell streets, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    This event will feature the famous “Dukes of Hazard” General Lee as a main attraction. There will also be Roscoe’s patrol car and more. The event will be hosted by JR Wiseman and the Sammi Moore Team.

  • Interest building in City Hall Park concert

    PERRY COUNTY – Meal tickets for a farm-to-table dinner that will seat guests on the middle of Tell City’s Main Street are sold out but there will still be plenty to see and do on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 24, including a concert by a leading regional Christian musical group.

  • Honeybee fall management workshop Sept. 15

    PERRY COUNTY – On Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. Bill Gibson and other experienced beekeepers will discuss constructing candy boards, fall mite treatments, and feeding bees.  

    The meeting will include demonstrations and time for question and answer. Whether you are an experienced beekeeper or a “New bee” there will be valuable information for you. All beekeepers and prospective beekeepers are invited to attend. We always enjoy chatting about bees after the end of the official meeting, so please bring a snack to share.

  • Blues on the Rock returning to Rockport Sunday

    ROCKPORT – The River Basin Blues Society and Rockport Parks Board are proud to herald the return of Blues on the Rock in Rockport’s City Park Sunday, Sept. 4. Last year’s event drew a crowd of around 500 blues fans and talented musicians from across the area, The new Rockport tradition will feature a host of talented blues bands, various vendors and a beer and wine garden to help area residents get the most out of the coming Labor Day weekend.

  • Gold medalist Lilly King in Lincoln City Saturday

    LINCOLN CITY – Lilly King, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, will join the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra for a Labor Day weekend concert beginning at 6 p.m. CST, Saturday, Sept. 3, at Lincoln Amphitheater.

    This marks one of the first public appearances the current Indiana University swimmer will make since rising to prominence in the 2016 Olympics. This concert is part of Indiana Arts Commission’s Arts in the Parks initiative and is an endorsed Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project.

  • Legendary Rocker Eddie Money to perform at Lincoln Amphitheatre Sept. 10

    Legendary rocker, Eddie Money, will take his impressive list of hits to the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s performance stage on Saturday, Sept. 10. Money’s biggest hits include iconic songs such as “Two Tickets to Paradise”, “Take Me Home Tonight” and “Shakin”.
