  • Workshop will showcase spring hive chores

    LEOPOLD – Want to learn how to move honeybees from a “nuc” to a full hive? Bring your bee jacket and join the Perry County Beekeepers on Thursday, April 19.

    Beekeepers are encouraged to take extra jackets and hoods for those who do not yet have protective equipment.

  • Masonic lodge’s annual car show May 6

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Masonic Lodge #623’s 14th annual car show will be held on Sunday, May 6. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and ends at noon. Judging begins at 11 a.m.

    Awards will be presented approximately 2 p.m. Ten top awards will be awarded for 1990 and newer cars; 25 top awards will be awarded for 1989 and older cars. Best of show GM, best of show Ford and best of show Mopar and other special trophies awarded. Concessions will be available. Good food, fun and entertainment.

  • Oakwood to host trivia night, '50's themed volunteer recognition

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will host Wine & Trivia Night, Tuesday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. Teams will consist of four participants. Call Polly Story or Whitney Zellers at (812) 547-2333 to preregister teams. Prizes will be awarded for the winning team.

    The staff would also like to recognize community volunteers for all they do for the community. To do so, a 1950s theme volunteer recognition will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

  • Great Day of Service returns Saturday

    TELL CITY – This year’s annual Great Day of Service will take place this Saturday. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. at the City Hall gazebo.

    Pastor Dan Hopkins with First Baptist Church in Tell City said the outpouring of support from Perry Countians “show god’s love in a practical way.” Hopkins stated, “It’s an example of servant evangelism, sharing that love with one another. It’s a good way to be a blessing to someone else.” He hopes it will help people think how to be positive every day.

    Charlie Tuggle Memorial Ride April 28

     

    TELL CITY – The 11th annual Charlie Tuggle Memorial Ride will be held Saturday, April 28, at Braunie’s Bar in Tell City. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 11. All vehicles will leave at 11 a.m. and will return at 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and Jeeps and SUVs are welcome. Donations will be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital and Schreiber Family Charities. Other sponsors are Logos and Performance Cycle.

    VFW selling dinners Sunday

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a pork chop and barbecued chicken diner on Sunday, April 15, at the post home. Serving will begin at 11 a.m. Cost is $8 and includes creek fries and green beans. The public is invited.

    CANNELTON – Spring is in the air, the weather’s heating up, and so are the engines. In a seasonal rite of automotive heritage, Draggin’ Main will hit the streets April 14 in Cannelton.

    JASPER – The award-winning vocal group, Six Appeal, will be on stage at the Jasper Arts Center Sunday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m.

    Cannelton H.S. celebrity waiter dinner Saturday

     

    CANNELTON – Cannelton High School will host its second annual celebrity waiter dinner on Saturday, April 7, at 6 p.m. in the Cannelton Community Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

    There will be a silent auction and tip jars for favorite waiters. Proceeds will support Cannelton High School. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and younger and free for those under age 3.

    PCMH Auxiliary geraniums sales continue

     

    TELL CITY–The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be selling geraniums again this year. Sales are on-going and will continue through April 20. Contact any auxiliary member or Donna Harpenau at (812) 719-1949 to make a purchase.

    Colors available are red, pink, salmon and white. The cost is $3.50 each. The pick up days at VIP will be May 1 and May 2. The group will have workers at VIP to help distribute the flowers.
