    VFW breakfast buffet Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the post home. Scrambled eggs or made to order. The cost is $7 (price includes tax). Carry-outs are available and the public is invited.

  • Bluegrass concert series brings nationally acclaimed acts to Owensboro

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – The summertime bluegrass festival season is months away, while the music is already playing at the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro.

    The museum, recognized for preserving and celebrating bluegrass where it began nearby, is set to host a concert series with nationally acclaimed acts. The series begins this month and continues through May. Concerts benefit the museum’s educational outreach programs, artifact collection efforts and a video oral history project.

    Knits and Knots first meeting of 2016 Thursday

     

    TELL CITY – Knits and Knots will start up again in January.

    The group will meet Thursday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

    Those who already knit or crochet hats and scarves are welcome to join the group. Those who have always wanted to learn can swing by the meeting.

    Participants are told to take needles or crochet hooks and the group will supply the yarn.

  • 4-H launches new Spark Clubs

    PERRY COUNTY – Youth in grades 3-12 now have a new way to have fun while learning practical, hands-on skills in 4-H Spark Clubs.

    These clubs have a single focus and meet for a total of six hours or more. The clubs are highly interactive and are designed to spark an interest in a subject.

    Contact the Purdue Extension-Perry County office at (812) 547-7084 to enroll. There is an annual $20 4-H Enrollment fee.

  • Campaign viewing party Saturday

    Southwestern Indiana for Bernie Sanders will hold a debate viewing party at the Ferdinand Branch Library, at 5:30 EST for a bite to eat and special streamed message at 6 p.m. from the Bernie Sanders campaign. The Democratic Debate will start at 8 p.m. Eastern Saturday on ABC. Those interested can RSVP at berniesanders.com.
