  • Band Boosters auction set for Saturday

    LEOPOLD - Perry Central Band Boosters auction will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at Dixon and Dixon Auction-Realty in Tell City.

    Items available for auction include jewelry with genuine gemstones, woodworking items, signed original artwork, chainsaw-carved woodwork, collectible dolls in original boxes, one life-sized with sequined dress, a violin and several gift certificates from local businesses. Auction items can be viewed online at Dixon and Dixon Auction and Realty's website at dixonauctionandrealty.com.

  • Moose Lodge hosting Summer Fest three days next week

    TELL CITY – Perry County’s Summer Fest picnic, sponsored by Moose Lodge 1424, will return to Zoercher-Bettinger Park Thursday through Saturday, June 26-28.

    Gene O’ Rides will operate rides all three days and a fireworks show is scheduled for the night of Saturday, June 28. Fireworks will begin shortly after 10 p.m.

    Moose members and Women of the Moose will serve chicken and pork-chop dinners all three days. Entertainment is planned for Friday and Saturday nights.

    There will be a cornhole tourney Saturday.

  • July 10 sheriff’s sale will be held at new detention center

    PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Sheriff Lee Chestnut reminds residents that the new Perry County Detention Center is open and that the former jail in Cannelton has been closed.

    He also reminds anyone interested in the July 10 sheriff’s sales that they will be held at the new facility, located behind the county courthouse at 2211 Herrmann St. in Tell City.

    The phone number for the detention center, 547-2441, is unchanged.

  • Derby set to welcome Riverfest fans Saturday

    DERBY – The Derby Community Association will welcome old friends and newcomers to its Derby Riverfest celebration Saturday, June 21, at Mulzer Park, located at the intersection of Indiana 66 and Indiana 70.

    Festival activities will include a morning 5-kilometer run and walk sponsored by the county parks department. Also planned are a flea market and community yard sales, an antique tractor and gas engine show, tractor pull for kids, free kids games, boat parade, car show and live entertainment with members of the band The Hiding.

    LEOPOLD - Perry Central Football Families will meet at 6 p.m. today in the high-school study-hall room.

    Farmers market now open
    TELL CITY - The Perry County farmers market has kicked off its season. Hours are 8 a.m. until sellout Saturdays and 4 p.m. until sellout Wednesdays. Markets will continue through fall. Anyone wanting to learn more can call 547-7933.

  • St. Paul and First United Methodist to cohost VBS

    TELL CITY - St. Paul Catholic Church and First United Methodist Church will offer a joint summer vacation Bible school the week of June 23-26.

    Four-year-olds through children entering kindergarten will attend at the United Methodist Church on 10th and Mozart streets in Tell City.

    Children entering grades 1 through 4 will attend at St. Paul Church on Main and Jefferson streets in Tell City.

  • "Weird Animals" VBS to offer kids creative insight into Bible stories

    TELL CITY - Deer Creek Baptist Church will host "Weird Animals VBS," a themed vacation Bible school, from June 22 to June 27.

  • Several class reunions scheduled throughout summer months

    PERRY COUNTY - The Cannelton Class of 1949 will celebrate their 65th reunion Saturday, June 14 at noon at the Patio Steakhouse on Highway 66 in Cannelton. Members of the class of 1948 and 1950 are invited to join this reunion. For more information, call 547-7688. Other classes with reunions planned are:

    - The Oil Township High School Classes of 1945-1947 will hold a class reunion at noon Saturday, July 26, at Bill and Dave's Smokin' Pit in Tell City.

    LEOPOLD - Perry Central Band Boosters seek support and donations for an upcoming fundraising auction.

    The auction will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Dixon and Dixon Auction-Realty in Tell City. Donated new or gently used items and handmade crafts are needed but no clothing.
