  • Library offers help for First Family forms

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library is offering assistance to anyone completing First Family forms. Forms must be completed for recognition at the Perry County Bicentennial celebration and the award of certificates and lapel pins to those of First Family heritage.

    To qualify, the family must have been in Perry County from its founding in 1814 to 1865.

  • SWCD annual meeting and dinner Tuesday

    BRISTOW – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 66th annual meeting Tuesday at the Bristow Community Center.

    The 6:30 p.m. meeting will begin with dinner, followed by a speaker and the election of a district supervisor.

    Cost of the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

    4-H Club to meet Tuesday
    CANNELTON ­– The Community Service Innovations 4-H Club will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at its new location at Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St. in Cannelton.     Euchre players filled eight tables at the Bristow Community Center Wednesday evening. Jim Sprinkle took first place with 92 points. Mike Elder finished in second place with 91 points, followed by Jerry Brown in third place with 86 points. Alan Goffinet and Vern Harpeneau tied for fourth place with 84 points each. Euchre is held at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the center.

    THE WILLIAM TELL CENTER will have its weekly dance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the center. The Sunshine Band will perform.

    Tell City Optimist annual chili supper Saturday
    TELL CITY– The Optimist Club Of Tell City will host its annual chili supper Saturday at the Tell City Junior-Senior High School cafeteria.  
    Serving will begin at 5 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door. Cost is $7 and includes chili, a sandwich, drinks and homemade desserts. All proceeds support area youth programs.

    Euchre tourney Saturday at Leopold
    LEOPOLD – A euchre tourney is planned for Saturday at the Leopold Conservation Club. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first hands dealt at 7. Refreshments will be available.

    Prom and bridal expo Sunday in Ferdinand
    FERDINAND – The 12th annual Ferdinand prom and bridal expo will be held from noon to 4 p.m. EST Sunday at the Ferdinand Community Center, 1710 Community Drive, in Ferdinand.

    FERDINAND – The 12th annual Ferdinand prom and bridal expo will be held from noon to 4 p.m. EST Jan. 12 at the Ferdinand Community Center, 1710 Community Drive, in Ferdinand.

    The event will include various vendors, prizes, cakes and catered food samples and a fashion show provided by Cinderella’s.

    VFW to celebrate 80th anniversary
    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the post with a dinner and dance Jan. 11 at the VFW Post in Tell City.

    Ladies’ and men’s auxiliary units and VFW members, along with their spouses, are invited to attend.
