  • Library to host local author

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library will host a book reading from  a local author at the Tell City location. The reading will be held Saturday, May 7, at 1:30 p.m., by Eddie Price, a Kentucky author and retired history teacher who wrote “Widder’s Landing.” His new book is entitled “Little Miss Grubby Toes Steps on a Bee!” This is the first book in a planned series of eight “Little Miss Grubby Toes” misadventure books. The illustrator and publisher is nationally-known Mark Wayne Adams.

    Orscheln and Humane Society to hold Easter egg hunt

     

    TELL CITY – Orscheln Farm and Home Store will hold an Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 26.

    Registration will be from 1 to 1:15 p.m., followed by the hunt. A $1 donation is requested and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Perry County. For more information, contact the store at (812) 547-7444.

    The Humane Society will accept new or used plastic eggs to help with future hunts, which can be dropped off at Orscheln Store. 

     

  • ‘Will Read and Sing’ benefit April 10

    TELL CITY – Jasper-based Will Read and Sing For Food is returning to Tell City April 10 for another performance to benefit Catholic Charities.

    The show is at 6 p.m. at the Tell City High School auditorium.

    Hosted by 1983 TCHS graduate Scott Saalman, the show is a unique mix of live music and humor writing. WRASFF has performed two previous shows in Tell City, raising $2,500 for Catholic Charities. In the past four years, the show has raised more than $58,000 for 23 causes.

  • Ferdinand monastery yard sale March 31, April 1

    FERDINAND – Bargain hunters will want to come to Monastery Event Hall during the Ferdinand town-wide yard sales to find treasures from various sources.

    The Sisters of St. Benedict will have a yard sale with items such as mixers, blenders, dish sets, chairs, recliners, rockers and glasses. Items also include laptops, iPad accessories and miscellaneous tech accessories.

  • Run for Your Mother May 8

    PERRY COUNTY – The annual run-walk 5K will be held on Mother’s Day morning, May 8, starting at 8 a.m. in front of the Perry County Visitor’s Center.

    Participants will be running or walking in honor of their mothers. Everyone registering will receive a T-shirt with the “Run For Your Mother” logo.  All money will benefit the American Cancer Society and Perry County Leadership Career Paths Fund. No refunds or transfers.

  • Owensboro’s ROMP bluegrass festival lineup announced

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – The ROMP bluegrass festival has added Old Crow Medicine Show, Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives and Lee Ann Womack to finalize the lineup for this year’s event.

    ROMP, which stands for River of Music Party, is an annual event of the International Bluegrass Music Museum. The festival celebrates the genre’s musical roots (traditional) and branches (progressive).

    ROMP, now in its 13th year, will take place June 22-25 at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro.

  • Small Steps to Wellness 2-mile Fun Run registration open

    LEOPOLD – The Small Steps to Wellness Third Annual Fun Run/Walk, hosted by Stepping Stones Preschool, will be held Saturday, April 16. Organizers invite the community to participate in this family-friendly event. Runners and walkers are welcome. All money raised will support the Small Steps to Wellness program. This event directly benefits youth and their families in rural Perry County.

    Euchre tourney set for Saturday

     

    FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a Euchre tourney at the Clubhouse in Fulda, Saturday, March 19. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with play beginning at 7. All times are CST. Prizes will be awarded at the end of play and refreshments will be available. The public is invited to attend.
